Hello from Turkey. My lastest restoration from 1982, Fakir 250SL model. It was in working order when I bought it, but it needed maintenance. I disassembled it and gave it a thorough cleaning. It would have been much better if the motor bearings were replaced, but since the nut had rust welded, I greased the bearings without disassembling it to avoid the risk of breaking it. I found a new brush belt and the original paper dust bag. The electronic circuit board controlling the motor speed had failed, so it had been bypassed and connected directly long ago. The adjustment potentiometer and quadrac were faulty, so I replaced them. I cleaned the oxidized circuit traces and secured them with wire and solder. Part of the front grille was broken. I used play dough and hot glue to make a mold and repair the missing part. While not perfect, it was better than before. I replaced the rubber seals to prevent vacuum leaks. Finally, the bulb was blown. Since it was impossible to find a 20-volt, 10-watt festoon bulb, I replaced it with the nearest 24-volt, 15-watt bulb. This bulb draws 12 watts at 20 volts, which is pretty close to the original. The speed settings are numbered 1 to 6, but for some reason, there is a locking mechanism on 3rd setting. There's no user manual, but I suspect the 3rd setting is used for vacuuming carpets with brush, while the other settings may be used for hose attachments.
