Does anyone know anything about this sweeper ?
It has no identification except the name "Sanitary Special" and
"patents pending".
I have no idea who made it but I do know that you get a running start
by the time you get to the end of the room the bag fills up with air.
Haven't noticed if it actually picks anything up. The bag was pretty clean inside
when I got it.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Dave

I have one!

Got it recently. Yours (should) have a plate on the bottom saying the instructions. It was made by Marvel (there are two on youtube) but have different tags and a different bag making me think it was higher end. For some reason, the wheels on mine are solid wood with rubber bands on them. Yours is in nice shape. Where did you find it?

Wow !

Yours has to be older than mine...wood wheels - Wow
And the bag looks much older than mine....I'll have to check when I get
home for the tag on the bottom but I don't think it has one.

I bought mine in Columbus at an antique mall....think I paid around $40
for it....

I didn't think of looking on Youtube...

Enjoy yours !

Wow, you got a nice deal! I paid like $75 total for mine from ChicagoMike and it didn't have the handle and desperately needed a polish. It had what I think was old soda stains on it. BTW to find the ones on youtube, type in "marvel non electric". They are different, having a different gearbox, front wheel and bag.

follow up

Just got home and mine does not have the instruction tag and it looks like there is no place where it used to be...(no holes for screws or rivets).
I watched the YouTube video...looks like the person that refurbished it
used a generic or home made bag.
Anyway, I would have paid $75 for your older sweeper.....wood wheels !
Nice !

They have a friction motor like a little antique toy car. The more you push it, the more it speeds up the motor, which spins the fan faster to suck up dirt. I think these worked marginally better than the bellows-style push sweepers but were a long way off from an electric vacuum.
