I Have A Sanitaire Sc886 Vacuum Cleaner And I Was Wondering If It's Bad If I Switch The F&G Set-Up That I Currently Have (Left Bag) On My Sanitaire To A Shakeout? Will It Mess The Vacuum Up?

Thanks Daniel!

Well, switching to the shakeout bag would actually mean you'd use more belts, as there's an absolutely insane amount of air running through the cloth bag, if you release the vac while it's running with a shakeout, it'll actually go wandering off on it's own (my C12 does that, though it's getting an upgrade to a brand new Sanitaire ST bag setup is it's current shakeout bag has a fair bit of damage and blows dirt back out), this is cos the airflow causes it to really clamp down onto the carpet and thus puts a lot of strain on the belts, it's not really a bad thing per-sé, but just something you should know... :)

Of course though, you will save money on not buying F&G bags, so there is a saving, but do remember that the filtration won't be as good and it will spew out more fine dust than it would if it was F&G or ST bagged... :)

Yep, the problem is that the F&G bags, especially if they're the plain non-"Filteraire" type, tend to clog up easily, the solution for that is to use proper Filteraire bags (non-Arm & Hammer, they also reduce performance), or purchase an ST bag assembly (the pictured bag will not take an ST filltube as it is a generic, as the exhausts on those are slightly smaller so the tube would not seal) and use the polypropylene ST bags, they're similar to Kirby's Polypropylene bags, but much, much bigger, allowing the vac to work like it's fitted with a shakeout bag as it has a lot of surface area to filter through... :)

This is the complete ST bag assembly, looks nice with the Sanitaire name on it... :)

I have all 3 of the bag options for my sanitaire. I like the top handle for the dirt-cup kit, big hook too hang cord, but the thin cloth bag on top was too dusty. I got a free shake out bag....it was new so I put the top handle of the old dirt cup kit and the shake out bag....lasted for a long time.......mega air flow. then got a free cloth bag with paper dirt bag....seems ok. found a donor vacuum in the trash. it was a old powrflite knock off of the sanitire, who ever ownded it before me put oem brush roll, fan and cloth bag and chord on it. funny knock off if you break the fan chamber you have too replace the whole housing....remove motor and everything...sanitaire it's a few screws.
