Hi all - I recently received my eBayed Royal M5000, and after an uneventful motor lubrication, it's working great, except for one bizarre issue. When I connect the stretch hose from a Dirt Devil 193 attachment kit, I get an intermittent, horrendous ear-piercing squealing noise from the vacuum.
It goes away when I cover the end of the hose, and so far, it hasn't occurred when I'm not using the hose - regardless of whether or not the brushroll is connected or if the rubber plug is in place.
What I'm *hoping* it is is a coincidental resonation in the hose, or perhaps a pinhole leak in the seal between the hose and the nozzle causing a whistling effect.
What I'm *scared* it is is a mechanical screech because I did something wrong in the process of disassembling and reassembling the motor, even though it otherwise sounds exactly the same as it did before I oiled it, aside from running a little faster thanks to being lubricated.
I've linked a short video I made of the issue occurring when the hose is used, and *not* occurring when it's disconnected.
Anyone ever see this phenomenon before? Any ideas?
