Royal 501 motor oiling instructions

Hi everyone! Just wondering if any of you Royal experts know how often and how many drops of 3 in 1 oil I should use. It is the older Red and Grey bag with a serviceable motor (brushes and two oiling ports).

Good question? I don't have the exact answer, but I have heard that you should not use 3 in 1 Oil.

Also, it is only two to three drops perhaps once a year...

Again, I am going off of my memory...Mike Rogers would have an exact answer I am sure.

Thank you Morgan for your advice, I have heard of mixed feelings over three in one, and it seems to be the easiest to get so I bought it. I'll wait for some others to give their opinions before I try it.

I had one of these, near mint with the box and everything. Sold it really quick but I don't remember any oiling ports?

As far as I know, the older 1.2 amp (and 175 watt) motors had the oiling ports, but the 1982 and later models with the 1.8 (and those from '82 with the short-lived 2.0 amp motor) did not have the ports.
