This is the Royal 105 I got today for $10!

Serial number is B81 C257765 any idea what year? came with original documentation, extra bags, and belts too!

Royal 105? That's clearly a model 501, and the date code means this machine was made in February 1981.

Date on paperwork says 2-27-81. Could this vac be that new? looks 50's-70's.

Ah, typo on my part! Yes it is a 501. So the paperwork date is accurate. Doesn't have as much suction as my upright Royal, but then again, it IS a smaller unit. I'll tear it down and thoroughly clean and polish it, as well as oil it in the oil hole.

Paperwork says use 30 weight, do you know if it matters detergent or non?

Yes, the date of delivery jibes with the date code on the machine, so the original owner bought it brand new.
