Royal 1030

My work was going to throw this out so I asked if I could have it. I now have a royal 1030 commercial edition. I only have pic of plate in pretty good condition. I know it's 10 amp made in China. It's my first royal upright. I have been wanting one for a while.

They are nice vacuums. Very good performers. The 10 amp machines sound like a jet engine even in a large room.

The pre Chinese made machines seemed to hold up much better. They are also a bear to repair. I had purchased some for work. Had 6 of them that held up for about 10 yrs. Purchased 4 - 6 more and the newer ones needed more repairs than the older ones. Handle bails fail fast on the newer machines. Motor carbons went fast as did motor bearings

I have some parts for them. I know I have bags I believe they take a disposable insert. (top fill) I also think I have some brush rolls for them as well. I do have two deluxe attachment sets for them as well. Might have a few other things for them as well. Will have to go look thru my collection of stuff. What size cleaning head is on your machine. 13" or 18"

Nice Ben they are really nice solid vacuums. I'd prefer American made but it would free. The brush is 13 inch. My kirby soft belts fit perfectly on it. It's a shake out bag but I seen someone in here convert there's using pvc pipe. I think 2 22.5 degree 2 in pipe then about 10 inch of straight tube maybe another 22 bend with little smaller opening could fit kirby bag on it. Same idea setup for kirby vacuums just pvc instead of fill tubes. It will cost maybe 5 bucks maybe nothing I'm might have extra pvc from putting in bathroom. Les

I have an Everlast 8300 made in China in 2008. I will have to say that the quality of materials and workmanship is excellent. I have owned this machine for 4 years now and I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

I knew of royal and kirby vacuum. I just remember not having a kirby as we were too poor and royal I had seen just didn't know much about. About 5 years ago my mother in law bough us a kirby 3/4 had mismatched parts. We have a lab that is indoor dog. We had cheap Walmart garbage before never worked well. We got the kirby. It picked up all the pet hair. Ever since then I have been a fan. The vacuum is heavy but Im a big guy so it didn't bother me.
Then my work had royal I received. I tried it and it was as impressive as kirby the belts are a little of a pain but it's really an awesome vacuum. I love kirbys but metal royals I'm starting to love just as much. It is violent almost the power and suction. I think kirby is violent too but it's got alot more vacuum around it and sucks directly. Royal is a little higher is maybe why I think it tells the dirt get in the bag or I'm putting you in the bag.. I don't know just my thoughts.

The machines I had were used for commercial cleaning. As we all know few people take care of their machines much less those that they don't personally own. As I said the earlier models held up well. The later models seem to go down more often.

How come they were going to throw away that vacuum-esp if it could still work.Parts such as bags,rollerbrushes,disposable bags for them are readily available.Even the Chinese made versions were still very nice quality.-Yes the 10A machine were a real moose of a vacuum and sounded like a moose calling!But they did do a GREAT job!

The big corporation bought new Royal Plastic vacuums. The store I work at opened in 2009 and this was the vacuum. Received royal plastic vacuum looks alot like Hoover upright. Nobody knew how to maintain vacuum. I found it made sure wasn't thrown away. It wasn't wore out because nobody maintained it just left full bag and clogged nozzle. I used there new plastic vac and had cleaned up in 5 minutes. It's a shakeout bag but the motor is powerful. Let the have plastic vac I'll keep metal vac long after plastic vac dies.

I ordered my new brush roll. I went to wash bag and I found it has a bag assembly already. So my work was using it as shake out bag when it has a fill tube.
Ben does the magic finger belt installer make it easier putting on belts. I haven't had any issues putting belts on.
Well I got bag cleaned and patching small hole in the bag. In a week I'll have new brush roll bag assembly with same white hepa bags as kirby sentria 2 take. So if I thought it had power with bad brush roll and no bag I can't wait to see it to its full potential.
I've been thinking about YouTube videos does it cost anything to have a channel. I have some sweet vacuums and some cool ideas I'd like to share.

Yes, it does... Kirby first implemented that on the second batch of 505s (circa 1946).

I have one of the newer Royal commercial machines, the CR5128Z. There really isn't that much difference between the older and newer royals. The main difference is the brush. Newer models don't have brush stiffeners as the bristles are stiffer. Mine is assembled in the USA. No idea where it's made, likely china. They are like Kirbys, but louder and a bit harder to maintain. The belt, for example, is VERY hard to change if you don't have a belt lifter (pretty cheap. I think i got mine new off ebay for $5) or a screw driver It's a knurled belt, so it won't stretch as easy. The royal also has a habit of throwing some debris into the back of the base plate (mostly it happens when picking up shredded paper). Nonetheless, the royal is a quality machine. The metal helps it last forever and the effective design ensures reliability.

TTI actually did bring some production of the Royal metal uprights back here in 2013 after acquiring Oreck and its assembly plant in Cookeville, TN.

One of these days they will 100% source parts here.
