Doug, that carrying tray, with the handle, behind the red Kirby tools,,,i havnt seen one of those in years!
We had a neighbor that had a Kenmore Central Vac installed in their house in the early 1970s,,,probablly about 1971-72.
Im thinking it was one of the first central vacs that Sears came out with.
The tools to the central system came in that exact carrier,,and i havnt seen one since.
I was just a kid at the time, and it was the first central vac i had ever seen,,and was totally inthralled with it.
I remember the wall inlets had a little silver foil like pad under the door, that you had to touch to turn the suction on and off,,and the PN was the standard white Kenmore one with the permanently attached wand. The long intergraded power hoses hadnt been invented yet, so, there was a long cord strapped to the hose for the PN that you had to plug into a seperate outlet.
Thought it was the coolest thing i had ever seen!
Ive never seen central vac inlets like those old Kenmore ones since,,,they must have been problematic.
Luckily the lady of the house hated to vacuum, even with the central vac,,so, i got to use it alot! haha
Makes me think of how kind those people were, to let a little neighbor kid come over and drag out their vacuum whenever i wanted to,,,i wonder how many people would do that today.
Im not sure i would even allow it!
