Last week, I finally replaced my 14-year-old Black & Decker drip coffee maker with a Mr. Coffee that I found at Goodwill for $10.00. What attracted me to it besides the black plastics that don't show stains like my Black & Decker's white plastics, was its double-walled all stainless steel caraffe. I can make a pot of coffee and it'll say warm for several hours without the machine being on and since the caraffe is basically sealed, the flavor doesn't deteriorate as rapidly as it does with an open glass caraffe. I'd had one like it when I was married 15 years or so ago and although I loved it, I left the thing behind when I left my wife. I don't know why I didn't take it with me since I'd bought it and she didn't drink coffee. I guess I just wanted to get the hell out of there with as few reminders as possible. Anyway, the machine is in great shape and makes a good—albeit strong—cup of coffee. I'm still trying to balance out the grounds-to-water ratio to achieve a more optimal flavor, even though I still use the K-cup machine more frequently just because it's more convenient.
