I’m curious about the performance of this too. Especially if it’s good and safe to use for hardwood floors and other non-carpet flooring. Of course, carpet performance is important also. Can someone provide a detailed review from experience?

It seems to have a lot of airflow for a cordless vacuum being a dirty fan design. I bet it's much better carpet cleaner than the Dyson V10. It also seems to perform well on the hard floors.
Lack of hose and tools is just a minor gripe, because for that you can use your Dyson.

Hey Mark,

I LOVE my Riccar Cordless SupraLite Upright vacuum! It is amazing the performance and excellent cleaning from this vacuum. As Mike mentioned, it does have impressive air flow as I’ve seen first hand when I unzip the outer bag cover and turn the vacuum on.. you can press hard against the disposable HEPA bag and feel the power.

I tried to make a video for Roger Lang and he even gave me advice on how.. but it never worked out as I didn’t have correct lighting and no one to operator the camera for me. Anyhow, the reason I wanted to make a video is the excellent performance on carpeting. You can actually see the agitation power when vacuuming up dry rice and cereal bits. I did my own little Bag Of Filth like ibaisaic does and this Riccar amazed me at how well it performed. I put down flour, oats, dry rice and some dog hair from one of my bagless vacuums and in ONE pass it got everything clean without a line of shame.. lol. (The line typically left where the belt is located)

I have always highly recommended this vacuum and I’ve owned mine for about a year and a half and it’s still working great! I use it about 3 times a week and I’m astonished how FULL the bag gets. I also find it is really well made as it’s very sturdy, easy to use and light weight enough to be helpful but still feels like a high end quality vacuum. I’m actually still on the original belt and find that after a year and a half the Riccar belts held up well.

I can’t remember what Riccar states, I think they indicate 50 minutes of battery, but I get a solid hour when I add up how many times I use it before I need to recharge. It also chargers VERY quickly, I forget the exact time but I will try to remember to time it next charge. It lasts for so long on one charge that I just use it, then put it away... SO very easy and convenient.

the volt

This is alsso the same platform that was used to make the Volt power nozzle and it's awesome. Instead of a bag, it has a standard connection to attach a hose from a canister or central vacuum, just saw an article about the hide a hose version in the VDTA magazine, apparently it's doing really well.

I would like to see a swivel head on a future model like the Oreck now has.

On the Tandem air Prima canister vacuum with its powernozzle-it has a swivel neck.This is a good tandem air alternative to someone who likes canisters and doesn't have a central vacuum.The Primas tandem air nozzle is like an ordinary powernozzle powered from the host vacuum.I also like the Volt since it can be used with any canister vacuum the Volts wand fits onto.

Tolivac, how would you say the Volt compares to the Prima tandom air nozzle, does one clean better than the other?
I would love to see Tacony come out with a new model of universal central vacuum power nozzle based on the Prima Tandom air design. Right now their Central vac nozzle is based on the same design as the Prima two row brush nozzle.

I don't know at this point-My Volt has the "pimpted out" higher power motor the Cordless Freedom upright has.The volt I have is more powerful than the one on the Prima tandem air canister.It does work well,though.Hard to say-like both machines.For the Volt figure it would depend on what host canister vacuum you use it on.It cost me like 80 bucks to pimp my Volt.The Simplicity dealer ordered the larger motor for me-run time is not much different-performance is better.Took him and me only 10 min to install the new motor in my Volt.

How does the cordless Freedom sound? I love my corded Supralight, but it is a bit loud. Lack of tools doesn't really bother me. The machine is so light, I can pick it up and vacuum large furniture and beds on low speed and that low speed also works well on hard surfaces.

And speaking of low speed, does the cordless model have low and high speed?

The cordless machine makes about the same sound as the corded model on low speed.There is only one speed on the cordless ones.

So it's reasonably quiet on low speed that is good to know Is it much louder on high speed? Is it as loud as say a Kirby?

They finally came out with a interchangeable battery version . I would consider upgrading the brush roller to a normal R10 s10 Style brush roller with the stiffer bristles. They clean about as good as an Oreck classic. There's also been some issues with the nut on the fan being torqued to the right specifications so check that if you get one.

So far have three of these-no problems with fans,motors or anything else.Have the detacheable battery version-the dealer I go to just got them in.I do like Taconys policy of replacing a machine if it doesn't work or the customer isn't satyisfied with it.This happened to me twice-when the tandem air Riccar Radiance first came out-the machine I got would not self adjust to the carpet as the demo machine would do.they replaced my machine!Works perfectly.then on a simplicity version the primary motor indicator light stopped working-yopu can tell the motor is on by the sound and the beater bar turning-mentioned this to the dealer-a different dealer-he called Simplicity and as I was there during the conversation on the phone-the Tacony guy verified the light didn't workand again they gave me a replacement machine.Really do admire Tacony's customer service.They do bend over to help you and make sure you are satisfied with your vacuum.The dealer I now go to ordered the detacheable battery machines with cleaning services in mind.I would think they would have access to plugs so they could use line powered vacuums.Just like how handy the Simplicity and Aerus machines are.JUST GO!!!They are the ultimate broom vacuum.
The plug in corded Simplicty,Aerus,and Riccar models have the two speeds.It is louder on the high speed-but POWERFUL-not like a Royal or Kirby but sort of close.I haven't listened to the Kirby and the Simplicity corded side-by side-guess will have to try that.I will take any of those Tacony vacuums over an Oreck.
