Have we seen this yet? Not everyday that a full size cordless, let alone a clean air one, enters the market. Seems like their place in the market is slowly expanding. I’ve long thought this style of machine is what the market would end up moving towards, at least in North America. I’m noticing a shift back towards full size machines, as people realize the cordless stick was never the real answer for them and theirs couldn’t keep up. People with pets, larger living spaces, carpet (which there is still a lot of here, even if new installations are majority hard floors) and the like. Something of this nature is likely much better suited to the average North American use case, and I think we’re getting pretty close to battery technology being able to support it as innovation has continued. Taking it for face value, it seems like it’d be a pretty awesome machine to use. 50 minute runtime. A 37 volt battery that looks to weigh a modest amount, but is less of a concern in an upright machine, especially when placed lower like this one appears to be. I’d want to see how the weight transfers down to the wheels vs up to the handle. But as an overall idea, I think this is what we’ll be seeing more of in a few years time. People can get their cordless convenience but in a more effective product. We already have a handful of higher end, better quality options to shop in this category. This is an intriguing addition. I’ll be interested to see how/if/when this format comes into the mainstream. The Hoover onepower rebadged Oreck was the first machine I can remember being formatted as such and sold mass market. It was good, but I just think the potential of these are yet to be realized. The ball is rolling, slowly. Maybe I’ll be wrong. All I know it that my idea of the “perfect” machine is a well built, practical, reasonably maneuverable, cordless, and most importantly effective upright.

I don't think the design of the R25/27 is quite right for a battery system. Since battery motors aren't as powerful that longer airpath is going to really cut down it's performance, at this point it's best to have a short more direct airpath. I think they should have given it a new lid and integrated the hose connection into it eliminating the two 180 degree turns in it's airpath and given it a wider hose.

Hoover's website is being re-done, or so they tell me, but there are two full size cordless commercial uprights they sell. One is a cordless version of the Hushtone and the other is the HVRPWR 40V.

No matter what, cordless vacuums would never win me over. And I'm betting this isn't going to sell well for Tacony.
We're enthusiasts so we don't get the whole cordless thing. I am friends with the owner of a vac shop in the high desert that is a Sanitaire, Oreck and Sebo dealer but he also sells some lower cost vacuums from Cirrus. He would tell me he had so many people coming into his shop wanting something cordless and no more than $75. He can't even sell a cleaned up used vacuum for that little. Very frustrating. He recently started to sell a cordless stick vac from Simplicity and their least expensive corded upright and those seem to sell. The old saying is "the customer is always right" and people have a variety of needs for a vacuum.

I look at the office spaces of the place I just retired from and aside from an outlet strip in each cubicle, which usually have something plugged into every socket, there are darn few wall outlets for the janitors to plug their vacuums into. They have to drag long extension cords on top of the 50 footers on each machine to power their vacuums. I could see the benefit of ditching the extension cords and just swapping batteries. Maybe have a charger in one of the few outlets in the office space to charge batteries as they clean. That makes something like a cordless Hushtone a sensible choice.
