Have we seen this yet? Not everyday that a full size cordless, let alone a clean air one, enters the market. Seems like their place in the market is slowly expanding. I’ve long thought this style of machine is what the market would end up moving towards, at least in North America. I’m noticing a shift back towards full size machines, as people realize the cordless stick was never the real answer for them and theirs couldn’t keep up. People with pets, larger living spaces, carpet (which there is still a lot of here, even if new installations are majority hard floors) and the like. Something of this nature is likely much better suited to the average North American use case, and I think we’re getting pretty close to battery technology being able to support it as innovation has continued. Taking it for face value, it seems like it’d be a pretty awesome machine to use. 50 minute runtime. A 37 volt battery that looks to weigh a modest amount, but is less of a concern in an upright machine, especially when placed lower like this one appears to be. I’d want to see how the weight transfers down to the wheels vs up to the handle. But as an overall idea, I think this is what we’ll be seeing more of in a few years time. People can get their cordless convenience but in a more effective product. We already have a handful of higher end, better quality options to shop in this category. This is an intriguing addition. I’ll be interested to see how/if/when this format comes into the mainstream. The Hoover onepower rebadged Oreck was the first machine I can remember being formatted as such and sold mass market. It was good, but I just think the potential of these are yet to be realized. The ball is rolling, slowly. Maybe I’ll be wrong. All I know it that my idea of the “perfect” machine is a well built, practical, reasonably maneuverable, cordless, and most importantly effective upright.
