Replacement Sebo for Sebo K3 2100w?

Hello all,

New to the forums, and just found the forum after researching my next vacuum purchase here in the UK.

Our 9 year old Sebo K3 Vulcano (2100w) finally died this week, so now looking for a replacement. I had planned to just buy the same model, as its been great for us. I also bought a second hand old power head to go with it. But, I wasnt aware of the new EU changes regarding vacuum motor power!

I have read some posts on here and I am thinking the E3 is the replacement model? I was thinking of going for the E3 Premium (700w), as I really like the handle power control and the newer power head looks like it would be an improvement. Plus I could sell on the older one I have. But, I cant get away from the fact that I cant believe 700w will be as good as the 2100w K3 Vulcano? I know they have made improvements in other areas to increase suction, but its a big difference!

To add to the confusion, I have just found a place that has stock of the K3 Premium. So, thats an option.

What would you go for? New K3 Premium or E3 Premium (both at around £290 GBP) or something else?

If I go for the E3 Premium, will the attachments I have from the K3 (inc the older powerhead) all fit the E3?

To give you an idea, we have a fairly small house over four levels with a mix of carpet and hard floors (about 80% carpet/20% hard floor). We have two house cats (Maine Coons, so lots of hair) and the vacuum is used at least once per day, although not the whole house!!

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum.

You don't need to worry about the lower wattage. As well as lowering the power, the new regulations have also set a minimum performance. So vacuums are using less power, but manufacturers are having to find new, more innovative ways to give the same performance.

The suction on the lower power cleaners may less, but it's still plenty and enough to clean the floors to the same standard. Especially if you go for the powernozzle model, the brushroll will do most of the work so the suction power doesn't need to be that much.

For info, I have a 620w Henry and the suction power is equally as good as the 1200w model. Plus, many manufacturers have redesigned the tools and floor heads to give better pick up with lower power.

Sorry, in answer to your question, I would go for the E3. It has a better tool set up than the K series.

I have just got a 700 watt K3 Premium and can confirm that it has less suction than my old 1800 watt version and certainly less than the 2100 watt model.

In your case I would go for the E3 as you'll find it as good as your old K3 with a few nice refinements and improvements. The hose for example is now positioned centrally which means the cleaner won't veer to one side when being pulled. You can also use the upholstery tool without having to attach the crevice tool. Your old tools should be compatible with the E3.

But the question is, does the lower power/suction hinder the performance? Does it still clean as well with less power?

Will the E3 700w be as good as the K3 2100w when using the kombi head, which I tend to use on the hard floors. Or will the et-1 head be OK on hard floors?

I have just also been looking at the miele c3 total solution which seems to be about the same price and I think comes with a power to d head. Having said that I am feeling like being loyal to sebo!

I used my Kombi head on my kitchen floor and it was fine, but then I never use full suction on my kitchen floor as the floor heads often stick to it. It is not so good on carpets, but that doesn't matter when you have the powerhead.

Any cylinder will clean fine on a hard floor. It doesn't take much suction to pick up dirt from a hard floor. After all, there's no pile and nothing for the dirt and dust to stick to.

The Miele has a cable that wraps around the hose and wand to connect the powernozzle, whereas the Sebo has a proper electronic hose, so I think you're making the right decision by sticking with Sebo. The cable on the Miele can be awkward and inconvenient in use.

Just a bit confused though. You say the 700w has less suction than the old k3 2100w but still suggest I go for the e3?

Like I say, I won't always use the powerhead so want to be sure it will still work as well as our old 2100 k3 when just using the kombi on the hard floors. Especially as those hard floors are usually the areas that need cleaning the most.

Wished I hadnt found somewhere that still had stock of the k3 2100w now! Then I think the decision would be easier.

Anyone aware of anywhere cheaper than £290 GBP for the E3 Premium?

I suggested the E3 due to the refinements it has over the K3.

Looking at the EU energy labels for both cleaners they get the same C rating for hard floors. The only difference in the ratings is the E series gets a B for dust emissions and the K gets a C, but this shouldn't matter unless you have dust/pollen allergies.

I will be doing a full review and performance demo on my K3 Premium on my Youtube channel, but it won't be for several weeks I'm afraid.

This is what Which? Say about the hard floor cleaning performance of the K1 Pet that has the same 700 watt motor and Kombi head as the K3 Premium

This vacuum cleaner is phenomenal at getting up dust from floorboards, and in particular from the crevices that are found between the boards. It is also very good over laminate floors, and the floor head is well designed, so it won't leave many gaps by the walls and in any corners.

As far as carpet cleaning performance with the power head, I can tell no difference between my 2100 watt D4 Premium and my 700 watt K3 Premium.

To successfully clean carpets you need good agitation and lots of airflow which is why the Kirby cleans so well.
If you have good agitation without lots of airflow the dirt will be bouncing around but won't be pulled into the cleaner.

Sensotronic. I thought the K1 Pet had the 1200w motor?

Sebo4me. Used to have a Kirby and they are quality but...they are not suited to our home. I preferred the sebo k3 vulcano much more.

The K series has the S class filter before the motor. The exhaust filter is not very efficient and carbon dust will escape which is why the dust emissions are higher than the E series.
I'm not a fan of the K series. The offset those makes the cleaner veer to one side when you pull it behind you and I hate the tug and rewind cord.
The E series is a better design. That's the one is go for. It recently had a 10 out of 10 review by trusted reviews.

Both the 700 and 1200 watt versions have the same rating for dust pick up on floors, so I don't think it matters. The 1200 watt model is probably performs better with the turbo brush.

So general feeling is go for the E3 Premium 700w over the K3 Premium 2100w.

And at £290 there aren't any other options I should consider?

If you want a power head vacuum cleaner, in my opinion, Sebo is the best option. The only power head Miele available at the moment is the model you have to clip the power cable for the power head to the outside of the hose.

Vax do two power head models but they are absolute crap compared to the Sebo and as I own them all, I say that from experience.

If you don't mind straight suction, then one of the Miele Powerline models would be a good option.

If you want a change from a cylinder, I personally like the Sebo Felix.
