Replacement hose for Electrolux 1205

Things are indeed different, you get genuine Aerus hoses much cheaper than I can get them and I work at a franchise. It's also funny that we have a very hard time getting the square filters for the LX/LXI yet you can get them. Aerus does not make them available in the US , we have to get them from Canada or on the aftermarket. I wouldn't buy a Perfect hose either, my experience with them mirrors yours, but I can get them for less than $25, they are one of the cheapest of the aftermarket options here - both in quality and in price. I would still buy an Aerus vacuum over a Perfect one... I see way too many of them broken after only a few months, very few shops even sell them in the US anymore as the market for them has all but dried up. The only redeeming thing about them is the Lamb motor in them, and I've replaced a worn out motor for one of my UltraLux machines with one and it is a significant improvement in suction, if somewhat more noisy.

The lack of parts availability for Canadian machines probably has more to do with the end of actual production in Canada and the loss the ability to manufacture those parts without re-tooling than in any business decision by Aerus. And that lost capability would have occurred long before Aerus. The costs to recreate the ability to even manufacture those parts far exceeds any potential profit. If it didn't, there would be more aftermarket choice and even they don't exist, at least as far as I can determine through the suppliers I have access to. The Canadian made machines were never sold in the volumes the US made machines were. Simple supply and demand and the smaller Canadian population, roughly 13% of that in the US.

About 15 years ago I went to my local Lux dealer to try and get a replacement hose for my model 89. No longer made was the answer so I ended up making my own. I bought a hose with the plastic end on Ebay and replaced the end with the one from a spare model 89 hose.

Not to mention the Perfect electrified hose handle won't fit the SideKick; the SideKick's prongs & hose receptacle don't line up correctly. I replaced it with genuine Electrolux hose

Used hoses can be a good option as well.

About three years ago, I decided to replace the original teal hose that came with my 1205 because the plastic on the handle end was badly cracked. I found a pair of beige handles on eBay but they were not compatible with the teal hose. I later found a good gray woven hose that was missing its handle end, so I put the better of the two handles on it and just stashed the other in my parts box and forgot about it until a few months ago when I happened upon a newer gray plastic hose, with a damaged handle end. It looked like someone had run over the metal part with a car. I didn't really need it, but since I had that spare handle end, I thought 'why not?' and fixed that one up with the best bits of the damaged handle end and my remaining spare one. I now have more hoses than I need, but it's good to have spares.

I have used this style hose. Its longer than a genuine Aerus hose, and it is cheaper

You guys mentioned how Aerus doesn't stamp their name on their hoses anymore. That's true.


 


If any of you own an Aerus-era Lux Legacy, look at the wand end of the hose. You'll see the shape of the old Electrolux logo stamp is still noticeably present, just without the Electrolux letters. It's still in the same spot that you would have seen it on an Epic 6500, but the letters are gone. Too tragic that they gave away their name and with it all of their sales they should fight to get it back. But I digress...
