Remake of one of my previous threads

Hello everybody, this thread is a remake of the one about upgrading a straight-suction canister to allow compatibility with an electric nozzle (link below) that I posted a few years back.

I said it in the previous thread and I'll say it again: there should be an option to upgrade any straight-suction canister (except maybe the Wet & Dry kinds) so that the user can use a powerhead should (s)he move to a home with carpets.

You may have noticed that while in the pictures in the old thread, the hose gets covered by an electric sleeve, in this thread it's with a cord that runs alongside the hose with cuffs that put them together. Credit is given to Human and Mchmike for giving me the idea to incorporate the cord in my artworks.

By coincidence, shortly before I posted this thread, I came across one thread posted by someone by the username of Vacuumdevil which has a link to a YouTube video from Ibaisaic's channel about an old Sebo canister and in that video, there's the same kind of powernozzle cord as in my artworks although it doesn't seem to be compatible with the model of the canister and also a piece that's to be latched to the telescopic wand which would let the user use the electric brush. So my idea about the upgrade involving the powerhead cord is not original... But still!

There are lots of vacuums that I've had this feature over the years as shown in the original thread.

I think an interesting decision from Miele hoofer years used to put a power port on their straight suction vacuums they decided to do away with this because the retrofit was often more expensive than what customers were willing to spend.
So in practicality the market didn't receive it well.

Now that being said for vacuum collectors This is highly desirable.
Wessel-Werk used to make a universal hose kit with a EBK360 again not well-received to the market.
Fast forward to 2019 I think the best solution is to simplify things and use a battery-powered electric head or turbo nozzle

Of course a turbotool and a battery-operated electric nozzle can be bought and used with some canisters. You could have already known that, in one of the threads you've posted, I stated that I got the Wessel Werk TK 286 for the Bissell bagless tank at my home. I learned that, on Amazon, a metal adapter which lets the user use a 1 1/4" attachment on a Miele is available, which makes me think... How would the Miele Alize perform when used with such adapter and the white battery-operated powerhead that appears in one of the videos in your reply? Or with the Tacony Volt?

What a shame for the Miele company to scrap the upgrade option as I was talking about... But why was the price for the upgrade so high?

One can add an accessory plug to any canister. Drill a hole and wire it in with the motor. I've done that on a few vacuums. Mainly so I could use an electric upholstery tool when cleaning the car.

If you can't find a neat little pig tail outlet like the kind Eureka canisters had in the 70s and 80s, you can buy an adapter cord, cut off the end, stick the wire through a hole in the vacuum base so the outlet end sticks out a few inches and wire it in.

And no, they won't include something like this because it's an extra cost and more work to assemble. Few people would use it. But it's a good idea.

Frankly, I think they should see vacuums by the piece so people can buy the pieces they want. If you want to buy a canister and hose but have fittings already that will fit, then why buy it. If you want to buy a hose and power nozzle then just buy that.

But no one sells canisters from store locations anymore either.

Here is my way of doing it. I have done these at least 20 now.

At some point, I visited the Chapman Boutique store in my city, examined the Miele straight-suction C3 canisters and learned that these tanks each have Powerhead ports, but I saw that this wouldn't make a difference, since I checked the sum of the prices among the electric hose for the Miele C3 canisters, the electric wand and the electric nozzle modeled SEB 228 in the website of the McHardy vacuum store which is worth Can$607.99 (based on the average yearly exchange rate, it's about US$458, 360 UK pounds and €409, all rounded to the nearest unit).

The other option is to order the battery-operated nozzle as shown in one of the videos in this thread and the adapter that let's people use a 1 1/4" accessory with a Miele from the online store of JohnnyVac. Sum of Prices: Can$303.76 (about US$229, 180 UK pounds and €204). I think the biggest problem with Miele is the choice of prices. So thanks for some info, Guys!

Moderneezer- The only other option I can think of is to.....
do the inevitable.

Get on a time machine, get a recent copy of the 1978 U.S. Sears catalog for Spring/Summer and....

order an affordable electric hose and Kenmore power nozzle.
sure you'll have to modify the hose end to fit your vacuum but I know you can do it.

Did Canada have a separate Sears Catalog?
