Regina Vacuums

Anyone know anything about this vacuum brand? It's a strange obscure brand and I bought two Regina vacs this month at the thrift store. I can't find much info on them, other than they don;t seem to be of quality construction. Is it a Canadian brand?

Check out Thread Number 4687 from Sept. 2008 with some good information. Regina is one of the oldest vacuums going back to hand pump days.

Heh, I was watching the Three Stooges yesterday, and there was a Regina vac that Larry was leaning on, snoozing. Couldn't see the vac that well, but in a later scene the logo on the bag was clearly visible.

A WONDERFUL canister in the 70s as well as the Brush and Beat upright.

Hello All and huskyvacs,
It seems one could go a lifetime without seeing a really old Regina upright.
Now there is one at the Orange County Goodwill here in California and it looks like it is wearing or sporting what I think is an old Bee-Vac shake out bag.
You can check it out at Shopgoodwill.com under auctions. Just thought it was interesting.

I liked the Electrikbrooms with the pump bag, they were very popular too. One even had a motor brushroll and hose attachment kits on some.

They also made the Housekeeper upright, rather poorly built but it was the first upright vacuum to have tools on board I think, in 1984.

My neighbor had one of the Housekeepers, with that L shaped nozzle, blue/green color, 90s I think?

Some of the Regina canisters were badged GE and Black and Decker.

Pretty sure the Electrikbroom factory near the Canada/NY border was where the Fantom vacuums were made too. Later Electrikbrooms used bags and I believe Oreck ended up with the design and branded it as an Oreck for awhile.

I think TTI ended up with the Regina name, I saw bagged Dirt Devils badged as Regina before, in black!

The good canisters

Were made in the early 70s, I don't know about any of the later stuff, the Regina canisters from the 50s were re badged Universal Jet 99s

Growing up in Montreal in the 1960’s, the brand name Regina was synonymous with the Electrikbroom. Everyone in the suburbs had one. It really was the most famous stickvac of the era....often hanging in the broom closet of everyone’s kitchen or stored in the corner of a laundry room. I also think it was a standard item available in pretty much every hardware store in Canada at the time....and certainly every department store. Canada’s famous Eaton’s sold Regina Electrikbrooms branded as Eaton Viking all though the 1960’s and 1970’s.

And most Electrikbrooms had Regina’s famous “Rug Pile Dial” brush adjuster.

are you talking about the housekeeper?

if so those are universally accepted as one of the worst vacuums ever made. that vacuum bankrupted regina into the history books. thier older machines, as stated, were much better quality. they were known for thier electrik brooms more than anything else.

Although I don't collect them,

I have a neat color of green electricbroom.. in the basement. Was a gift for helping a friend move.
I believe hotels were known for using the "Housekeeper".

That's the exact bag I need for my Bee-Vac, but GACK! that $84 shipping charge is unreal!

For some reason they indicate the shipping cost to me is also $84.00 and I am about 50 miles from the Goodwill store in Orange County and about an hour and half in California traffic to get there. They indicate that it is "This item has a fixed shipping price of $87.25 (Shipping + Handling)".
I am not sure the bag ring will fit you Bee-Vac as the Regina uses a bag ring similar to a Royal but slightly smaller. I tried to put the Royal on the Regina but the diameter was about 3/8th larger. The diameter of the neck on my Regina that the bag ring would ship over is 2". Not sure about the neck on the Goodwill Regina but would guess it is the same. I have a feeling while it is a Bee-Vac bag they reused the Regina Bag Ring. It is hard to tell from the pictures and I have no idea of what the bag ring would look like for your Bee-Vac. The first picture is my broken Regina, the second is the Goodwill Regina and the third is one of chicagomike's vacuums which I kind of think is similar to your Bee-Vac.

Yes, that looks like the same hookup I have. I'm not ready to tackle it yet but I plan to find as close of a size of random antique vac bag I can find and then use PVC plumbing pipe fittings and crimp connectors to make the bag attach on there. I don't remember exactly but I think the connection diameter is slightly over 2".
