Regina Housekeeper find

Found a Regina Housekeeper yesterday while in a thrift store near my house, so naturally I bought it. It's already starting to fall apart. The handle release is broken and the brush roll is in need of replacement. It's too bad the build quality on these was so poor. It's a great design and cleans fairly well for a clean air plastic vac. The brush is designed to sweep debris towards the intake and the bristles groom carpet nicely. The cleaning path is 16 inches wide, it's huge!

It's a fun vacuum to use. Just thought I would share.

Here is the Regina pictured with some respectable vacuum cleaners. The Regina Company should have taken a lesson from these other companies. Wish the pictures had turned out better, need to buy a new camera.

Kenny, my mom had a housekeeper very similar to this one, cept it was dark green. From what i remember she didn't have it very long as it basically fell apart. Like you i think the build quality just wasn't that great.

I used it yesterday to clean my grandparent's home in Eufaula, ok. It picked up dog hair quite well, can't say much for deep cleaning. After about an hour my ear's were ringing, LOL! After I finished using the Regina I dragged out my grandmother's Concept, which was such an improvement. Those Concepts aren't quiet either.

Be careful with the handle, they are extremely fragile!

WOW!!!!A "rare" find-A Regina Houskeeper in that good of condition-the ones I come across are dirty,broken, and dying in dumpsters.

Regina Housekeeper

I heard after Elux bought Regina that the Regina engineers knew they had a good idea and could have greatly improved it but were not allowed by management.Have also heard that Regina of this era is taught as example in college business classes of how not to run a company.(I believe the CEO went to jail for some type of business fraud related to counting defective returns as sales.)
