Wow Joe, thanks for sharing that one. I have never seen a red FQ before. Is this something you just got?

Hey Joe!! I have that sane machine in my collection. From what little info I've come across, that was Filter Queen's first Princess model, which was supposed to be for the retail market. FQ was trying to get a good hold on both the door-to-door market with the FQ and the retail market with the Princess.

Filter Queen Princess Vacuums

The Princess line from Filter Queen was a vac shops exclusive.
The first Princess, the red one was produced from around 1979-1982. The small attachments are plastic as is the dirt basin. An excellent machine--as all Filter Queens are.
The Princess II was produced from around 1985-1990. It is the same as the first one except is light gray body with darker gray trim and attachments.
The Princess III was produced after that for about 3-6 years. The only difference from the Princess II was a longer cord-25 feet- and a 8-10 ft. hose.
I have both the I and the III. I have literature--sales brochures for the II, if anyone is interested. I have about 20 of them and would be happy to share them.

Filter Queens next venture into a vac shop machine was the Optima...which is featured in another thread. They were only on the market for 3 years or so. Not a great selle, but an interesting machine!

The Red Princess

Looks really cool! I didn't know too that it was sold through Vacuum Shops, along with the Optima. The Optima is kind of an odd duck. I found mine for $20. It's basically the same setup as the regular filter queen but uses a metal cage to hold in place a thick cellulose motor filter and carbon filter. The motor filters are quite thick which may explain the higher amp rating on the motor than other FQs. Bags are no longer made but can be found. They are huge and I couldn't figure out how they should be situation in the dust bucket. But I really like the Red Princess!

Eurekaprince would like to know.....

when did Eureka allow Filter Queen to use their famous "Princess" brandname? I am saddened to see that Electrolux/Eureka has allowed their royal family of vac names to be stolen by other vacuum dynasties!!!!! Even Queen Filter! What next......Dirt Devil Empresses? :)

Wouldn't that be a great name for a vac store - "Clean Castle"? Then you could have a window display of Filter Queens, Eureka Empresses, Silver-Kings, Royals, etc........
