Rebuilt Kirby 505

Hi everyone! I just recieved a Kirby 505 from my in-laws and want to know roughly how much I should sell it for. I powered it up this morning and everything seemed to be in normal working condition. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly, the only thing original is the belt lifter. Nothing else is even close to original 505 trim.

Otherwise, I might've been interested. I'm close to Altoona, so not real far from Wexford. I actually picked up a very nice Classic III from a guy in Wexford.

The belt lifter actually is from at least the 509 (1949-50). The 505's belt lifter was actually black in color with red Kirby script. So nothing is original on this 505 anymore.

OMG! Sadly, there is nothing left of the original 505 but the metal hulk. Regrettably, Kirby does this in rebuilding, using whatever parts are available that will fit regardless of original aesthetics.

....The rebuild was done by Kirby under their rebuild program, at least you have that to point to.

I bet everyone who works in the "rebuild" department at Kirby has nice original 505s. They probably fight over who gets to "rebuild" them whenever they come in...

You're right... I haven't had mine in so long. I forgot the 505 had a black belt lifter...

i actually contacted kirby. turns out the old parts are thrown out. my best beet is just take it to a kirby dealer to do it for you the one here in meridian charges $200 for it. i wach them when they do it to be shure only idenical parts go in to it.
