Hi everyone, it's Liam, Just wanna say for my 18th birthday for my main gift, I got a restored Kirby model 505. It was rebuilt because it had replacement parts, however the tag/name plate on the bottom of the fan case is still the original one. Amazingly I actually had a factory original Kirby 505 bag and all 4 front and rear Bakelite wheels. I managed to get those parts all onto my 505 and I added a black heritage ii bag collar around the bottom of the factory original bag, just to make it look nice. The emptor tray is still the original one except for the plate that screws into the center of it. Overall, my Kirby 505 looks very gorgeous.

Very nice! They sell brand new black Kirby cords for $24 on ebay, its about the closest you can get to an original as the originals all rotted away.

Update

Hi everyone, I managed to find a replacement black Kirby cord, it's a genuine replacement cord, brand new. I'm using it for now until I find a factory original 505 cord or one very similar. I have been vacuuming with it fairly often and it does a nice job. The headlight works and brush roll spins very good. I believe it may be the original one but not entirely sure. I'll have to post more photos in the near future.

Question

I am in the process of starting off by looking for a correct 505 nozzle with the factory original belt lifter and bumper. To continue my 505's restoration and make it completely factory original. If someone has a spare Kirby 505 nozzle with the original belt lifter and bumper, that would be awesome. If someone can help me out with getting original 505 parts, that would be great as well.
From Liam
