Hey guys . I was wondering if anyone owns one ,or have heard of them before? . Are they really worth the money? Ive been thinking about buying one. Pros ,and cons? Does it really help with allergies? I want someone that owns one , to give me there opinion . Thanks

A Rainmate is designed to put fragrance in the air. It doesn't filter anything. The fan moves air OVER the scented water, picking up scent and blowing it into the air. Hard water will clog the small tube that sticks down into the water, clean it often. Do I think they're worth the money? They cost $18 at wholesale, so I think they are worth about $30 at retail. Just my opinion.

Found mine new at a Goodwill for $1.99. As Dysonman said they are more to disburse fragrance than filter the air. If they accidentally capture some dust in the process it is by mere chance.

Answer to your question. If you want a fragrance and a little moisture disbursed, get one. You can find deals at Goodwill, DAV, and on line.

I have one in just about every room and love them!! Like Tom said they only smell nice and I have very hard water and have to clean it very often. It's wonderful if you have having company over and want to freshen things up quietly plus they make a conversation piece.

RainMate actually cleans the air; the water turns grey within a few hrs use. I also noticed LESS dust in the air inside my house

The RainMate does not clean the air because the rain mate has no suction to draw any air into the device. What you are seeing is the fragrance oil thoroughly being mixed in with the water. After turning the unit on, the clear water becomes a cloudy gray color and it appears to look dusty but it isn't. Hopefully this will clear the air about the RainMate.

Rainmate doesn't do anything

other than put scent into the air and it's a pain to clean as the water gets splashed onto that flat disk and beyond that sometimes. I have two of them and I used them for a while, but stopped using them. Now, the rainbow vacuum is a different story.
