I found the se rainbow on a yard sale. Paid 80 euro's for it about 70 dollars I think and it has everything. Personaly i like this model the best of all rainbows, because i am a sucker for the eighties and this cleaner shows that with a little bit of 90 ties options. It came with 4 sets of pipes!!?? 1 metal for the PN 1 2 small metal pipes for hard floor cleaning, 1 set for the aqua mate, and 1 set of plastic to clean up wet dirt. 2 hoses, all the normal atachments, a nozzle to clean hard floors and clean windows. a powermate (small powernozle) and the complete aquamate set including a full bottle of cleanser. I think it is a beauty.

My parents bought a new Rainbow SE in 1993 w/everything shown in pics; but I wish I'd waited 2 buy it 4 less (we paid US $1500) Now after 16 yrs of use it barely has suction by now since we've NEVER had it serviced after all these yrs.

Rigidvac

Are you willing to sell your rainbow? I really want one. If you looking at selling, I may be interested. Shoot me a PM if so.

Edgar, you really got a good deal there!! Someone paid a lot of money for all those extras. Do you like using this machine?

Great machine

I got a SE last year, and it is my "everyday" vacuum. I love mine, does a excelent job, I did get to see a new one last month, and as soon as i get this house built i am getting one. Does anyone know how the SE and new E compare?

Se and E

There are lots of differences obviously. Looks. I like the SEs looks a little better.

But the motor- more power in the E. A Brushless motor- which makes it sound like a jet starting up- 2 speeds.

But other than that- its the same. the SE is one of the quietest vacuums on the planet and is very powerful

I thought the E series had a standard series-wound motor, but the E2 was the first model to have the brushless motor? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please!

yep

sorry. I forgot that.

The e was identical to the SE (except for looks and a little more power)

The E2 has a brushless motor- much more quiet- and some more power.

tristar

I think you should get yourself a nice DC3 or DC4. They run cheap, and it would be a good addition to any collection.

Rainblow

No thanks.....I'm not a fan of emptying wet hair, mud, and mold out of my vacuum every time I use it! I'll stick to bags, thanks....

Rainbow water

I just flush mine down the toilet. No septic here. And I only use the 4 quart basin.....Bill in Az.....

it works fantastic

well I took the se for a total use today. I vacuumd carpets, hard floors, shampood the sofa and the stairs, and used the wet brush thing on my kitchen floor. I was surprised about the dirt that came out the floors, I have a cleaning lady twice a week !!!! conclusion, I think the thing is briliant and looking for another one lol.

my father has the SE & after 16 yrs he STIL RAVES about that Rainbow despite being 1/2 as powerful (I think its due 2 bearing problems) but I'll get it fixed b4 selling it.

That Rianbow is the one my pop has

has anyone used the aquamate? I was wondering how well they worked. I was thinking about getting an older rainbow d3c or d4c with an aquamate to use just to shampoo with, is it worth it?

What a beautiful Rainbow! And how interesting to know that the exact same setup was sold in Belgium.

The whole reason behind my fascination with vacuums is because my mom purchased a D3C when I was 2. Rainbows will always hold a special place in my heart because of this. I think my favorite model is the chocolate brown D2. Matter of fact, I don't think....I know!

:-)

Hey Sam

My friend has the SE, with aquamate. It works pretty decent although the steamvac works just as good with less "man power" lol and you dont have to hook the steamvac to the sink. I have also gone over the carpet(when I lived there) with the Aquamate after using the stam-vac to get as much water out of the rug and there was practicly nothing in the Rainbow. Like mabe a tablespoon.Im unsure if the new e-2 clean water tank will fit/retro fit the older rainbows. Also I think the DC3 and se my have had a tank option but ours didnt. It hooked to the sink wich can be a pain sometimes.

so if u take the hepa off the e2 is it essentially the same as the regular rainbows without hepa or does the e2 have to have the hepa without damage being caused? anyone know?
