For Christmas my mom found a Rainbow E2 black on facebook marketplace for $40!!!!!!! It has everything. All the attachments and the manual. I just got a brand new 14 foot hose at the Rainbow store today for $60!!! I have fell in love with this machine it is my favorite machine. There was one draw back to this when I got it. It was DIRTY. It was the dirtiest machine ever however it had no scratches on it. I took it apart and cleaned everything and cleaned the fans in the motor. The separator had dirt sitting in it so it had to be scrubbed. The hepa filter was completely plugged too. I put a new one in it. The thing is like brand new now. Also I got a Kirby Sentria for Christmas too. My mom got it from the same person. For $40. It had everything too. The attachments, shampooer, and manual. It cleaned up good too. Another machine I got was a Rainbow D4 with everything it has hardly any scratches on it. I had everything too

Drop the mic! Your vacuum needs are covered, wall to wall, for the next few DECADES.
Everybody gravitates to different machines...these have a learning curve and don't really work as "quick picker uppers", but their flexibility, quality, and effectiveness will likely keep you satisfied for a good long time...but you probably already knew that!

Why on earth would anyone sell not one, but two such valuable machines, for such low prices, knowing they were worth so much more? Anyway, great deal. I am needing a hose for my e2 black, so if you should happen to want to sell the 8 foot one that came with yours, let me know. I can't believe you got that 14 footer for $60.00. They really cut you a deal on that.

looks like the previous owner didnt change the water often enough or used the rainbow for vacing non-wettable dirt

yep

this is why I would be so afraid to buy a used one because I think this happens more often than not - unless you're able to take it apart to clean it. I'm not brave enough, but I've seen it done... But it's worth buying a used one even if it's dirty for that price and just taking it to a Rainbow dealer and pay a fee to have them clean it...

The e2 machines are very easy to take apart and put back together. Rainbow designed them beautifully. This was my first one to ever take apart and it was easy job. I am only 15 years old and I had no trouble. I need to take apart my E2 gold.

I've watched videos but there are certain things I saw where you could run into trouble getting it back together - like that rubber gasket. I don't think mine even needs cleaning honestly but at times I've wanted to take it apart to inspect the inside - but so far, this is what it looks like and it's over 10 yrs old now. This was the hepa cut open after the first five years of use. Rainbow's are my fav machines too...I still can't believe how disgustingly dirty that was before you cleaned it.

mark the 2 speed machines are a breeze to work on and honestly there should be nothing to worry about. The rubber gasket I am guessing that you are referring to is the gasket that seals the basin. They are easy to get back in place although need a little push to put back in place. For a 10 year old machine yours is spotless! Thank god at least someone knows how to use their rainbow... most of the machines I get in for service are trashed out and we are talking about 60+ Machines a month!

Not six months after I got my rainbow, I was on a ladder with the non-electric hose trying to dust the tops of my window seals - I lost my balance holding the rainbow and me and the rainbow fell and landed on the floor. I just knew I had broken something....but it was ok....I ended up getting the 14 foot non electric hose so that would never happen again.

I just think that some of the people who sell rainbows just don't go over proper use and care - I think explaining what you need to do to keep it in tip top shape may turn a lot of people OFF, so they just don't do it. People start using their machines, and vacuum the entire house on one basin of water - get lazy and don't clean the separator, and it no time, their Rainbow is in pitiful shape.

You should make a video doing a teardown and put back together. I also heard that you need to be in a static free environment or it will cause damage.

This is 'dejavu all over again' from a Sloan Wilson novel of the 50s.He became well known for Man in the Gray Flannel Suit which we would now place in the pre-Mad Men era of NYCity jr executives.When reading it,years ago,I felt he had a Mo XXX in mind when writing the scene.
Very glad you ended up in better condition than the character(an older nagging,never satisfied wife)in the novel!

yea - I was SO mad at myself when that happened because I had only had my brand new shiny rainbow a few months - I'm glad I didn't end up like that character either.

The ONLY thing that was damaged during the fall was cosmetic - a small area of the dolly discolored..But still perfectly functional. I also discolored my water basin a little bit YEARS ago - it has this haze on it in spots from some cheap scent I tried in it one time - which I have never done again - I now only use essential oil or Rexair products only. But the basin itself is fine. I've sucked up a lot of dirt with my machine over the years and it still smells so clean. Nothing on it smells bad.

I've never had a vacuum that makes dusting the house high and low relatively simple thanks to the 14 foot non electric hose - where I can just park the rainbow and put the dusting brush or the floor and wall brush and dust everything. With any other vacuum I've used Upright or canister - the hoses aren't long enough and the big fat electric handle gets in the way when I'm trying to dust tight spaces such as the behind the TV around the cords or behind the computer or hard to get areas. So if I were to ever get the latest rainbow, I'm keeping my non electric 14 foot hose because I prefer the wand when dusting over the electric handle getting in my way.
