I was trying out my new Minijet on a pet stain this morning on a little rug in our bathroom. Did a nice job, so pretty happy with that. What wasn’t cool is when I tried to remove the front lens to clean the nozzle. I lifted up the tab to remove it, and the tab snapped right off.

Thankfully, it’s a really cheap part, just $2.54 at rainvac. Just wanted to advise anyone to be cautious lifting that tab. I’ll have to be more gentle with the next one.

That's the problem with those Rainbow accessories. By design, they were supposed to be given away in exchange for leads that the Rainbow salesman can set up for appointments. The RGD (registered general distributor) wants to pay the least for these items, as he's going to provide them to his salesmen, and the customer, for 'free'.

I don’t know if it’s a matter of it being cheap, or just an engineering and design issue. I think they probably could have made it fasten down in a slightly different manner and not change the material at all, and the cost would remain the same.

In any case, at least it’s an inexpensive part to replace. I ordered two just to be sure.

Mine broke on the bottom of the lens where the two holes fasten to the nozzle. My dealer sent me out a new lens covered under warrantee. I order a lot of stuff from rainvac.com. There only an hour and half from me. I've had my SE there for repairs and the people there are nothing but nice and there prices can't be beat.

Plastic - especially acrylic, or whatever that is - gets brittle over time. And when it's designed to be flexed for operation (ie - removal), that's just asking for trouble. I'd call it a design flaw, but like dysonman said, it's just designed to be simple and inexpensive.

Yup!

I've bought at least three new lenses for the that attachment. Luckily they do sell them inexpensively. The tab on the lens breaks easily. However, the attachment is indispensable to me, so I deal with buying a new lens when it happens.

Yeah, it’s turned out to be a surprisingly good quick clean-up tool. I won’t ever be without it now that I’ve seen what it can do.
