I have been having problems with the separator in my Rainbow E2 single speed from 2003, and I am wondering if anybody else has had the same problem and what they did to fix it. So, the separator WILL NOT COME OFF THE MOTOR SHAFT! I have tried and tried to get it off, but it will not even move. I tried spraying a small amount of PBBlaster where the shaft and the separator meet, and it still didn't do anything. The vacuum is in amazing condition, both physically and mechanically, all except for the separator! Any and all solutions are welcome. I have fixed a Rainbow in the past that was pretty dirty and the separator came right off. Mine isn't dirty at all. If anybody has any solutions, please share! Thanks!

Rust on motor shaft?
My guess is either that rust formed on the motor shaft or somehow the motor overheated and heat fused the plastic separator to the shaft. Did the nut come off easy??
You might try tapping the separator along various sides of the solid rim bottom and also solid points at the opposite end rotating the separator as you tap around. I wouldnt tap on the fins, only the solid points.
You could even spray WD-40 to have it rest in the area where the nut was while tapping and the tapping vibration will help it seep down between the sepator and the shaft.
Also, if you could slip a piece of ribbon or other material under the white separator to try upward tension from the bottom to lossen it. If its fused to the shaft, grasping from the sides may make it more resistant compared to upward pressure directly from its base.
Keep us posted. I used to sell the current model E2 Type12, it's a great machine. Any E2 should be a 2 speed model and single speed being straight E series.

Could very well be a possibility. The nut came off perfectly fine, with very little resistance. I will try the ribbon trick and try tapping it with a rubber mallet to loosen it. Ill see how it goes! Thanks for your input so far!

Nice work! Glad it's fixed!
Now you can work on cleaning the rust. A scotchguard scrubby with some cleanser may work well.
