Rainbow E2 Black hose

Is the electric hose on the E2 black waterproof? I was under the impression that somewhere along in the E series machines they stopped making a wet hose and a dry hose and made the main hose double insulated. This would have corresponded with the electrified AquaMate. I noticed this symbol on the side of the hose advising not to pick up water.

The hose isn't waterproof. They have a wet hose that doesn't have electrical prongs in top. I believe you can find them for $50 on great vacs web site.
Go to rexair web site and look at the manual. It will give you a better understanding.

yes the hose is double insulated and able to be used for wet pickup, the picture you see on the hose is basically telling you not to submerge the handle.

I’d like to think you’re joking and not being serious by any means. I am a repair technician for a rainbow distributor and most of my state I have more affiliation with Rexair than one thinks.

Absolutely YES. Why do I say this? Because the black model Rainbow was the model that only used ONE hose for everything. For the PN, the Rainjet, Aquamate, etc. They no longer used a second hose. Of course, if you want a second non-electric hose you could buy one separately.

Well after stirring up a good debate I guess I could have answered my own question had I just read a little more carefully. Thinking that maybe it was a non genuine hose I inspected it for the Rainbow/Rexair name or any insignia. Whilst looking for that I did see the fine print on the handle that basically says don’t immerse the handle, only use on carpet moistened by the cleaning process. I assumed that is that way when I got...I’ve used that hose for wet pickup before. I did not and would not dunk the handle in water...I think that’s common sense but I did pick up a couple of basins of water that flooded in the door from a heavy rainstorm.

Also, while I’m sure it is a genuine hose there is not any logos on it. I’m fairly confident that my D4 and single speed E series had an R with the water drop on the handle.

I think Rainbow could be more clear about the issue. I did reread the owners manual more carefully, it gives the same message printed on the handle in the safety information and it has the same symbol that's on the hose on the page that identifies all the parts. Otherwise there are no instructions or guidelines for wet pickup. However, I looked at the manual for a single speed E series and it does give specific instructions for wet pickup. I also looked at Rainbow's website and rainvac.com and I did not see a non electric hose for wet pickup for the E2 Black. If anyone is a distributor can you even buy a non electric hose from the factory for the newer models? My take from reading the manual and warnings is that they don't want you to use it for wet pickup other than with authorized Rainbow accessories like the AquaMate and RainJet.

that Rexair started making the electric hoses for Wet Pick up starting with the Blue production of Rainbows. The Aquamate 3 was introduced around that time I believe (not 100%). My gold 2 speed's original electric hose was not made for wet pick up, however, I bought a new hose a LONG time ago from Goodvac I think, that was the updated hose for wet pick up, so I could buy an Aquamate 3 to use with my rainbow. All the rainbows made since then used the electric hose suitable for wet pick up because they NOW offered the Aquamate 3 (which requires the electric hose)...in other words, any model from the Blue ON should be able to be used for wet pick up (UNLESS someone has replaced the hose it came with with an OLDER rainbow electric hose)

as for the hose in question, it is to my knowledge that there are no after market hoses for the E series machines, as I do believe they are still within patent. as for the D series hoses that is a different story.
