Yesterday I was at Goodwill and found a Rainbow d3c that was in fairly rough shape. one of the latches was broken, a "knob" was snapped off of the tool holder and it had no wand or powernozzle. They wanted $ 30.00 for it. Out of curiosity I plugged it in and turned it on.
I am surprised at how quiet the D3 ran. It is practically silent compared to my E-series and to a couple of chrome domes I had in the past.
(Knowing myself, I'll probably wind up buying it tomorrow).
Here's my thought on the D3 Series: Rexiar models A,B and C were relatively similar, Rexiar A was launched in 1936? and that milk can style was made from 1936 (?) to about 1955/ 56 when the gold "Rainbow" came out, replacing the Milk-can style. The Gold "Rainbow" Model D evolved to the beloved "Chrome Domes" and they were made until about 1980(?) ish
The D3 was launched in 1980(ish) until about 1985/6. It was replaced by D4C ( 1986-1997) then E ( 1998 to present- with revisions).
It seems like the D3 is a strange bird:
Why was it produced for such a short time when compared to other Rexiar models. It seems like Rexiar Models/ Styles had a fairly long run before a redesign. for example, the E-4 looks similar to the original E series etc.
I wonder why the D3A - D3C was only produced a few years? I guess that makes the D3 a Strange Bird in Rexair Paradise.
Lol, pardon my humor, but it almost seems like the D3 could be the love child of a D2-A and an SE-Pe. I always thought of them to be kind of a combination of the d2 and later models. It's design was introduced in 1980-ish. It looks like it would have been more at home in the Brady Bunch era- It's a cool design, I actually like the D3 and was amazed at how quiet it was. Anyhow, It looks like it was designed earlier then it's release- Something I have always wondered...
Anyone with a lot of rexair knowledge or someone who had "inside information" able to shed some more light on this "Strange Bird" ?
