Have rebuilt D2 and D3C motors and notice that the air deflector gets really filled and packed with dirt after awhile. Removing the deflector generally destroys it and now they are getting hard to find. I understand the D3C is a bypass motor design where the air now goes around the motor instead of through it. Has anyone ever just left out the air deflector and tried to run it that way and how it may work? If not, I guess I will be the first.
