Rainbow D2 (A)?

My grandma has a rainbow that she inherited from my grandpas mother when she passed away. It states that it is a D2, serial number: 4376367. It sure looks like a D2A though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Darren,

Your grandma's D2 must be one that is colored chocolate brown rather than copper. All D2As were chocolate brown.

The D2A was also different in that it had the same motor assembly as the model D3A that was to be introduced in July 1980.

Does her D2(A) also have the R-1024 power nozzle included?

D2 + D3 Motor = D2A

To find out whether or not this is really the D2A, is to see the motor assembly. If it has the D3A's motor, then it's a D2A. Tom Gasko knows for sure.

The D2A was only made from approximately January to March 1980. Tom Gasko says only about 2000 units were ever ordered, before Rainbow would replace this model with the D3A that July.
