Questions about Tacony products

I am getting ready to purchase a new vacuum. I have been interested in Tacony machines for some time. I am ONLY interested in a power nozzle equipped canister and there will be NO EXCEPTIONS. I have the following questions that I would appreciate some help with, preferably by someone who knows about Tacony's machines. Here goes.
1) Has anyone noticed that the full size machines are not featured on the websites much? It says things like "limited availability in stores only" and they seem to be focused only on the Tandem Air models. Are the full sized canisters being discontinued?
2) Has anyone ever performed the emissions test with a particle counter on a Tacony canister? If so what was the result?
3) Has anyone ever owned one and what was it's reliability like?

Question 1)
Yes, I have seen the same thing regarding the full sized canister vacuums, especially on the Simplicity website. On the Simplicity website, currently they only show the Wonder and Jill Canister vacuums, no longer listing the full sized Simplicity Canisters. On the Riccar website the Immaculate and Impeccable canisters are still featured under the category canisters. The Simplicity salesman who I buy from in Pennsylvania says he thinks there are new full sized canister vacuums coming soon and that’s just his opinion or guess, no company proof. Then on the other side, you see Canisters available on the Fuller Brush website too.

Question 2)
I have not personally performed the emissions test myself, but was at my Simplicity dealer and Riccar dealer and witnessed the particulate emissions test on many of the canisters and uprights, and ALL of them went to Zero within seconds. I also had a friend who sent me a video showing his Maytag M1200 gave a particulate emissions reading of Zero as well. No idea how the Fuller Brush vacuums fair on the emissions test?

Question 3). I own 6 Riccar, 5 Simplicity, 5. Fuller Brush and 4 Maytag vacuums and I can say they are my finest vacuums and quality built and I’ve never had one single issue with any of them I will add the Fuller Brush seem to be good quality but the lower end of the lines, with Riccar and SImplicity being the higher luxury brands. I also find the Maytag to be great, high quality vacuums but with more reasonable pricing, I own all four models of Maytag and LOVE them. Also, the Maytag company that handles the customers for the vacuum line is exceptional and they were very helpful with my questions. I use my Maytag M1200, my Riccar Premium Radiance R40P, my Riccar Premium Vibrance R20P and my Simplicity Fetch Pet Vacuum S30PET and my Canister Simplicity Wonder with the deluxe (Non Tandem Air Nozzle) Powered Nozzle and my A-Go-Go Cordless Stick vacuum and my Fuller Brush Mighty Maid, Easy Maid, Speedy Maid and Home Maid Power Team often and have used them to clean my house from top to bottom before. Never any issues and great performance.

I also love my newest Maytag the M600 Cordless Upright and find I’m using it almost every day. I trade off between it and my very similar sister vacuum, my Riccar Cordless SupraLite R10CV.

All that said, I would consider them very reliable. I have only owned the oldest model for about 2 and half years now, but still I can tell by the quality and performance as well as talking with my friend who works in the repair center of the large Simplicity dealership in PA, he claims the repairs on Simplicity and Riccar and Maytag are very infrequent and when there are repairs it’s typically from operator error and stupid stuff careless owners do to these lovely vacuums. Also he says minor things do occur but after working there for many years, the repair guy said he bought his wife a Simplicity Canister and Upright because of what he saw as a professional. Again, all subject to personal opinion, but he sees what he sees in his large vacuum store repair shop.

Tacony canisters

I think a power nozzle canister is a great choice, I would suggest the Riccar Prima or Simplicity Wonder, same machine just different color. This is an excellent machine, very quiet and you can choose which power nozzle you prefer. I also have a Simplicity Gusto, its Ricccar counterpart is the Riccar Immaculate I think, again a very nice machine although it's more expensive than the Prima or Wonder. If you want a Tacony canister, the Prima or Wonder would be what I would suggest.

I used to have a Riccar Pizzazz with the smaller power nozzle. It performed very nicely but I noticed dust in the bag compartment and a dirty pre-motor filter every time I changed the bag. It had a bag cartridge frame that came completely out and would only fit in one way. So I took a closer look at the bag, and at first I thought there were tiny holes all over it. Upon even closer look, I noticed the holes were covered by a clear film kind of like cling wrap. Shortly after I traded it for a Miele S6.

I went to a Riccar dealer to check out the Prima, which is nice and seemingly Miele-esque, and noticed it uses those same bags. Thus I didn’t get it. The dealer said it was a filtration enhancement but in my experience was the opposite.

The Bank brand uses the Tacony bodies and hoses but a small Wessel Werk power nozzle. I’ve thought about buying the Bank Mint which is very similar to the Prima and Wonder and seems to have a better bag.

That is so odd, I just went and checked my Simplicity bags and Riccar bags and none of them have what you described at tiny holes with clear film? I’m thinking they must have changed that or done away with it because I just bought these Riccar bags directly from Riccar and looking online, they appear to offer the same bags like I received. Looking very closely you see dimples in the bag, but no clear spots or holes and you cannot see your finger from the inside of the bag and holding it up to the light you cannot see anything that resembles clear holes. Very strange?

The Simplicity Wonder canister is the Tacony twin sister to your mentioned Prima so I guess the bags for mine should be the same as for a Prima?

Either way the inside of my Wonder is immaculate and spotless, and my premotor filter is as white and new as when I bought it and I’ve probably changed the bag in my Wonder 5 or 6 times so far since owning it.

I hope this helps as if you still want to consider buying a Riccar or Simplicity.. I would highly recommend it. Oh and I checked all my Maytag bags and the same material as my Riccar and SImplicity, with No holes as you described. That’s so odd and I can’t figure this one out?? Who knows?

@electromatik I have particle tested their canisters. Machines that are not of the tandem Air Design blow a perfect zero.
The full size machine is discontinued. Which is very sad they also discontinued the more modern mid-size machines like the Riccar pristine.
I would stay away from the Wonder for a few years till they work out there bugs just like you never buy a car the first model year when it comes out.
I would also say for your money you'll get more from the German manufacturers. (SEBO and Miele)
I would say their uprights are pretty solid in comparison.

The reason I asked about the full sized canisters is because I am just not interested in the Wonder or Prima. I don't care about the Tandem Air thing either. I just want a full size canister and full size power nozzle with the features I want and the Tacony's come closest.

I don’t know if they’ve changed them since or what. My model was the Pizzazz but when the Prima first came out it had the same bag. I don’t think they had a plastic collar on them. So maybe they have since changed the bags. This would definitely be for the best.

Maybe vacuumdevil can shed some light on that?

I posted pics to this website of the Wonder/Prima the day those models launched 4 years ago. The bags ALWAYS had a plastic collar. I have personally sold several hundred Prima machines, and have only had one repair (the speed control) from all those machines sold. The particle counter is a gimmick first used to sell air purifiers. It's like the Baird airflow meter - designed to sell Kirbys. The Prima is an awesome vacuum, turns on a dime and is light and easy to use. Unlike the high-brow german machine, the cost of filters, bags, and repair parts (especially) are very much lower - so you have lower operating costs over the life of the machine.

Can you shed some light on the top of the line machines? Why are they seemingly being pushed off the websites? Simplicity doesn't even have the Gusto or Moxie on their site anymore. Do you know why this is? Is the Wonder/Prima going to be the top machines now? Do they think that Tandem Air power nozzle is going to enable them to forego full sized canisters?

It's a come-down if true.

Both the Gusto and the Moxie have been discontinued. It is still possible however to find one at a dealer. We just sold our last Moxie about more than a week ago since I work at a Simplicity dealer.

Strike Tacony off the list if true. There is now NO canister manufacturer that offers what I want.

I would still consider the Prima or the Wonder if you want a Tacony machine. They will clean just as well as the full size canisters. I have had mine for more than 2 years and I can say from experience that the bag compartment is not dirty at all, the quality of these machines is very good. If you insist on a full size canister than I would suggest you check out the Sebo airbelt D4 or one of the Miele C3 machines.
