Hello everyone!

I cannot find the thread, but a while ago I was on here and someone mentioned a bagless upright sold door to door.  I even went to the website, but cannot for the life of me remember the name!  I believe it was silver and had the hand feature of folding up.  Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Secondly, what are your thoughts on that vacuum?  Does anyone here own one?

Thanks!

I think you may be talking about the Filtropur, https://filtropur.com/

I've never owned one or even seen one in person, but I've seen a few Youtube videos of it and it sounds like it has a very noisy motor. It's interesting that it seems to use a filter cone filtration system similar to Filter Queen.

Edit: it looks like it's also sold as the Aeropure 3000, . Filtropur's website claims that Aeropure is their sister company.

Seems like a real shady MLM setup. Don’t trust salespeople unless they’re from a reputable company like Aerus or Kirby. There are tons of these Rainbow and Oreck clones flooding the DTD market, and they almost always are a scam. If you’re going to buy DTD, get a Kirby or Aerus.

Yes, I think you are thinking of a Filtropur. I saw one advertised in the local craigslist for a while. The ad went down, and not long thereafter I spotted one at the recycling center. Would not be surprised if it was the same vacuum. lol

This year, I spotted yet another, and at the same place! These things are bulky! When I buy bagless, I stick to dual- or multi-cyclonic, so I passed it up.

The thread

Was indeed about Filtropur. The president of that company didn't like what I had to say about their machine and got the thread pulled. I now hate the machine and the company.

The fact that he got the thread pulled proves that he has no confidence in his product and that the whole thing is a scam. A good company would allow criticism, but this company tries to censor criticism about their product because they have no confidence in it. Plus, we have the right to free speech. As long as it wasn't slanderous, we could've told that CEO that he could shove his FiltroPur right up his ass, and he couldn't have done a damn thing about it! This is a very shitty company.

Honestly, this company reminds me of that Keeler dude and his jury-rigged Kirby bagless doohickey. He wasn't able to take any criticism of his product, and what followed was probably the greatest moment in VacuumLand history.

I remember hearing about those, kind of wanted to try one.  Not because I like bag less things, quite the opposite!  I just thought it was interesting.  Do you have a link to that thread where the "greatest moment" happened?

Everyone else:

Thanks for chiming in!  That was the vacuum I was looking for!  Not to buy, I like old fashioned vacuums.  I just wanted to look more into it since I thought it was interesting that a bagless would be door to door!

How is that different from traditional door to door vacuum companies?

A machine I had never heard of until now-it doesn't impress me-sounds like it would be awkward and messy to use.And if you have to change the filter cone after each time you dump the bin-could get very EXPENSIVE!And yes,the noisey, whiney motor. And to top it off---no headlight on the floor nozzle.Love how the demonstrator in the video uses the bare floor tool to TRY to clean a ceiling fan and doorframe-shouldn't you use the dust brush for those things?Seem like that would be easier and more effective. The handle and articulating joints on the canister look like breakage points. Will keep my Kirby,Lux and others, thank you!

Yup

I did own one. I felt that it was not very well built. I also thought that it's performance was pretty lousy. At the time I had a white shark navigator that cleaned circles around it. While I didn't have testing equipment at the time I have run across one since and measured about 34 cfm at the cleaner head which is the lowest I've seen from a full sized vacuum. It's an interesting design but that's about the only appeal I see to it these days.

Fairfaxclass...

MLMs aren’t always scams. What differentiates Filtropur from other DTD companies is the fact that it’s not established company. They also have a terrible product. The thing about MLM is if it’s not from a reputable company such as Rainbow or the like, it’s probably a bad investment.

crazykirbydude....

Unfortunately, most D2D vacuum companies are MLMs in one way or another. The difference is that a Kirby or Filter Queen will last decades, while the Filtropur would definitely be more difficult to keep running for decades. MLMs like Filtropur are leaning more toward pyramid scheme territory, offering a shitty product just so they technically fall under the umbrella of MLM rather than pyramid scheme.

There are dozens of companies like this that sell crappy Oreck and Rainbow clones to elderly people for insane amounts of money, and then when the thing inevitably breaks down, there’s no one to fix it. When you buy an Aerus or Kirby, you will get a quality product, and in the unlikely case that something does go wrong, there’s a ready supply of parts and dealers who are able to repair it.
