Question about the Electrolux LX.

A question concerning the LX from me you ask?

Yesterday I spent the day in heavy cleaning, putting both my LX and Kirby Classic 111 to good use. While doing the hard floors I heard a little whistle from the Electrolux. I had to smile, as it brought back a happy memory.

From the time I was 2, I'd helped the lady who lived next door vacuum. More to the point, I was this pest always underfoot, waiting for the vacuum cleaner to pop (eject). A few weeks before the magic event, the Electrolux would give a little whistle, and this got louder and longer from week to week. When the wrapper started to get full the little cardboard thingy would to vibrate, causing a loud constant whistle. Finally the front cover popped open, the motor cut off and seconds later, the wrapper shot across the floor.

Okay, I get it, but that's not the case. I opened the front cover to find, only a little dirt at the bottom of the wrapper. That tab should not be vibrating this soon. So can the experts out there tell me what's going on?

And another thing. I've used many Electrolux models over the years, and the LX/LXI is the only one that whistles.

I just put in a new genuin electrolux bag and it has stopped. Ive been using it for half an hour now and it still works

That whistle is music to my ears, but didn't think it happened with a nearly empty wrapper. Now what I want to know is if your ejector works? If it does and there's a dial at the bottom of the housing, set it at 'hasten,' to make it eject faster.

Cleaning is sweet torture, waiting for that magic moment when it ejects. In most cases every six weeks with normal house cleaning. I like to keep a test wrapper filled with paper, kapoc (way before your time) and other non dirt substances. It should not overfill the wrapper, as that slows down the distance of the toss. also, the two tabs on the hose connector tend to impeed the toss. The cardboard on the wrapper getting caught on the tab, and stopping the toss.

On another note. I have to share what my buddy Larry says about my golden retriever. She loves to lay on the floor on her belly, with her legs out, and her tail extended. Larry calls this "Electrolux mode" as she resembles the front cover open, and the hose attached.

I hope you learn a lot about the LX/LXI from the 'Extravaganza' site. When I lived in San Diego, the 'beauty shot' taken from the instruction book was my screen saver. By the way, the background on that site is what the hose for the LX/LXI looked like.
