Pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, I have an Electrolux EPIC 3500SR Upright that needs a new bag door, the old one still works, but the inner black plastic part of the door has broken off...

Pretty sure these parts are NLA, but figured I would ask. All I have been able to find for these uprights are the floor nozzle inner hose, switches, bulbs, and, oddly enough, the motors are available.

Machine looks like the one I linked to from another poster here.

Those are my favorite uprights. Your best bet may well be to look for a donor machine that you can cannibalize for parts. Check with local vacuum shops. They might have one in the back they can let you have parts off of, or they might just let you take the whole thing to save them to save them the trouble of pitching it in the dumpster. You never know until you ask,

Hank, chances are that black plastic inner door part may still be available, since your Epic 3500 is basically the same as the previous Guardian model before they switched to the Heavy Duty model. Try your local Aerus dealer, they may be able to locate a NOS part for you.

Bag door

If the part on the hinge is good but broken away from the upper part gently pry the upper part out of lid and reattach with sheet metal type screws. This was a common repair. This happened more often if it had the aluminum piece that flipped up to signal no bag which could removed if desired. But pictures would help with your particular model and problem.

Electrolux upright

Great vacuum with 2 motors, self adjusting, gear belt with reset,4 ply self sealing paper bag, clean air design and more.
Problem is exactly as I thought.Gently pry black part out of gray lid with flat screwdriver, reattach 2 black parts (I use 2 sheet metal screws),snap gray lid onto repaired inner lid.If aluminum 'flag' is present(not clear from pictures)it can be removed to prevent future strain on lid assembly. Also only carry by metal handle tube and not plastic upper hand grip if it does not have carry handle on back(again not clear from pictures).

Rugsucker

Good info thanks.

I take it that it’s probably a good idea to drill a couple smalller pilot holes first before I put the screws in it? Just worried about cracking the plastic.

If it ends up breaking, you can call Bryan Satterwhite in Richmond Virginia, he shipped me a top door for my upright since my bag compartment was in good shape. (804) 527-2775
