Yesterday I happened to be a local vac shop with a Miele question and spotted this vac by the counter. I found out it was a trade in for a new Miele canister.

When everything was done, it was given to me with the note that the motor was dead.

Took it apart, 2 white wires had fried at a wire nut. Snip snip and replace, it works fine.

Now the question: This is set up as a straight suction and has a heavier gage 3 wire power cord on it. It is bulky and too long to wrap on the bell.

Does this vacuum require a 3 wire cord? Because I want to use it on my new gift, a Fairfax.

Please, advise me.

Thanks,

I found the info. I was looking for in the archives. I will keep intact.

Now, I found that the one-ply bags are especially not good on this vacuum.

They quote Filtreet bags....can we still get those? I have a supply of Royal and Envirocare, I will see how many ply they are. The thing was this vac is powerful? and a one ply may not stop the particles and may burst.

Your thoughts???

This is an industrial vacuum, so yes the cord will be very long and cumbersome, that is normal. It must be able to clean entire offices and floors without the custodian wasting time hunting for an outlet. The cord must also be durable and chunky to withstand scraping across walls and floors and possibly even concrete or stone surfaces. I looked up the only photo I could find of one in Google, it looks pretty sturdy!

Thanks all!

The hose I have is off-white and the power cord is black. Possibly replacements. I came with only the crevice tool. I had and extra gray upholstery tool and dusting brush. I may find the matching floor brush when I look through my Royal tub.

One other thing, this one does not have the opaque plastic housing just inside the bell housing which I thought concentrates the exhaust directly to the louvered grill.

Is it essential?
