Hi Folks -

I have a question for everyone -

Does anyone know if Aerus makes the Pro-Team XP1500 for them or it it a Chinese knock off ?

I also think that I know that the Perfect DM101 IS a knock off of the Aerus Lux, but can anyone confirm that as well ?

I am growing a little board with my Riccar Prima as my daily driver, and want to go back to an upright for now - I was thinking of the Sebo Automatic X4/X5 but do not like the fact that the brush does not turn off since it is a single motor upright...

Hence why I am looking at the Pro-Team and Perfect - I guess I should also ask does anyone own either of them ?

Thanks in advance for the help -
Dan

OK - So talk about strange...

I called Pro-Team this morning, and then again just now hoping to get a different rep from my morning call, which I did...

Both Reps gave me the same answer when I asked where the product is manufactured - "We do not have the information on where the product was made" - All they both would tell me is that they are stored at their warehouse in TX -

At least when I called perfect, they told me outright that the product was made in China -

Now it really makes me wonder where the Pro-Team is manufactured -

Dan

Dan, the ProTeam is NOT manufactured by Aerus Electrolux. Both these uprights, as well as any Electrolux-style upright that has the stretch hose on-board, is a discontinued Electrolux design that was sold off years ago. And there is good reason WHY they got rid of it - they found the hose has a tendency to clog, as well as at the base of the hose. Furthermore, the wand will require replacement after a few years as the end of the wand will wear away & there is a safety switch it needs to activate for the upright to work, which the wand will no longer do when it it's end is worn. Also note that the motors used in the knockoffs are, in my opinion, of inferior quality, the ProTeam uses a Slovenian-made Domel motor & the other knockoffs use Ametek motors, the Aerus Electrolux on the other hand uses the Electro Motor motors they produced for years before that division was sold off.

If I was you, if you intend to use a canister for tools & you don't intend to buy a upright for tool usage, just for carpet & bare floors, I would look on Ebay & locally on Kijiji, Craigslist & local vac shops for a good used Electrolux or Aerus upright. Since they did improve suction power by increasing the motor's power in recent years, you can always change out the motor for improved performance if you desire. I would also think the HEPA Filter from the Aerus Guardian upright should fit & work just fine as well if desired.

I own the Proteam and I to wondered where it was made. All it says on the id tag is the companies headquarters address. Whether it is Chinese made or not it feels like a very solid machine. I will say it does feel a little more handle heavy than Aerus units but overall it feels like it will stand up to some good use. On the plus side it uses almost every identical part to an Aerus. Same brushrolls, bags, and most attachments. Just look for a good price on one.

Rob & Derek -
Thank you so much for the information -

Derek - do you have the model with the Front & Rear HEPA filters, or the older side mounted filter?
If you have the Front & Rear as on the new models, does it blow a lot of dust around from the rear filter on bare floors? How do you like the attachment use? If the hose long enough for dusting ?

Would you mind posting a few pictures of it when you have a moment - I always like to see a few live photos, and not stock photos -

I found both the XP1500 and the XP1200 on Amazon.Com - Under country of origin, they both say China -
Only when I then called back to Pro-Team telling them what the Amazon website said, did they put me on hold, and them come back and confirmed that yes, they do source them from China -
It really does not matter that much, but now you can most likely guarantee that both the Pro-Team and the Perfect probably come out of the same plant -

My assumption now is that which one really does matter - I do like to look of the Pro-Team a little better - I don't care for the "Stock On: look of the HEPA filter on the Perfect - It looks as bad on the Aerus - Like an afterthought -

I do have the model with the front and back hepatitis filters. I have not noticed much dust being blown around unless I leave the unit fully upright and it is pointing towards a clump of hair. I will get you some pictures. Anything in particular?

Those must be very generic. The floor head on those models is not the same that comes supplied with the Proteam models. The floor head on Proteam's are much like any Aerus model mainly like the Aerus commercial unit. The main body/bag housing is similar though.
