Tacony Corporation recently introduced their cordless Simplicity Freedom/Riccar SupraLite. It's a big success, and the people who have purchased them love them.

Hide A Hose is a central vacuum hose that stores inside the wall, so there is no coiling or uncoiling of the hose. The problem has always been that this hose was non-electric. Tacony Corporation decided to make the cordless upright into a Tandem-Air Power Nozzle for the Hide A Hose system.

As an owner of a Hide A Hose (along with my beloved Vacuflo commercial central vacuum), I got to try one of the prototypes. It works like a dream, better (in my opinion) than a regular Power Nozzle. The Tandem-Air system means the suction fan is "pushing" the air into the hose, and the central vacuum is sucking the air through the hose. It's a win-win situation in the war against dirt.

A friend from the Vacuum Group on facebook suggested I hook it up to a vintage cleaner, so I did.

This is an Air-Way model 55A cleaning carpeting thoroughly for the first time in almost 70 years of 'living'.

Imagine what it would do to an Electrolux model XXX? Or an Atlas? Or a Compact?

A cordless power nozzle? Ingenious.

Powered hoses are always heavier, and often times bulkier due to the wire inside.

Even better would be to re-engineer the power nozzle to hold the batteries using small-format cells like Tesla. (think laptop batteries.) This would give the base some weight which I feel is missing in modern power nozzles.

Ooooh!

I was wondering what that was, i recall seeing a picture of that in another thread and thought it looked weird. That's a neat, and i'm sure effective idea.

Just as long as we don't think batteries like the hoverboards that are starting fires all over the place.

Is that a Rexair Series A in the background???

Oh I need one of those for my Hide a Hose! Right now I rigged a Nutone 598 powerhead with 30ft extension cord for use in my wall to wall areas when vacuuming with my HAH outlet.

It runs 1 1/2 hours on a single charge, which can be accomplished in slightly more than 2 hours. It makes using the vintage cleaners so much more effective. While I love the vintage rug nozzles, they take far more work and time to get the sand and grit from the rug. Now, a vintage Model XXX Electrolux can beat, as it sweeps, as it double cleans. Not having to plug the power nozzle into anything is a blessing. It makes it truly an "attachment" as much as a dusting brush is an attachment. The power head can be removed completely from the machine when not in use, like the PN-1 on an Automatic F with the single length of cord.

Here is the nozzle being used with a Model XXX (1938 model). Finally, the ability to remove the deep down dirt that has eluded the Electrolux for 78 years

I assume that thick part is where the batteries are.

That is why I suggested a re-engineering to put them into the base.
