Thanks to Chad Cunningham who spotted this CA in an auction close to my house. I'm now the proud owner of a nice CA. I think it is a later one because the serial number is 1974.

My question is about one of the hoses it came with. Any idea what it is? I was told it is a model F hose.

Electrolux CA.

Hi Kenny:

I just saw your video and that seems to be the correct hose. Actually, there were two, the first is what you have, and yes, it would be extra-long as it was designed for commercial use. As to the other hose, it was rubber, and designed for wet pick-up.

The CA (Commercial Automatic) was introduced between 1962 and 64, and I had the opportunity to test one of the first ones. As you may know I lived in Connecticut and my grandfather was House Director for The Choate School here in Wallingford. Knowing I was into Electrolux's he brought this home for me to try out. That was one of the red-letter days of my childhood.

You probably don't have the instruction book, but that's easy to get. Go to the Library section and select 'Vacuum cleaners' then scroll down to 'Electrolux' there are I think four manuals you can chose from, Models XXX, LX, G, L, and the CA, and download it. Here you can see all the features this Electrolux had both as a standard vacuum cleaner for offices and so on, and also as a wet/dry machine.

As to the power Nozzle, any one will do, the trick is to find a cord long enough. Perhaps getting two and connecting them. The correct hose for this would be for the model G which is the same color. Should you be a purist as I am, all attachments for the G are correct.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

CA

Great vacuum!! That looks like a hose I found with a CB. Even though the outer cover is worn it has good suction. The correct Power Nozzle has 2 wands with lock rings (broken on mine). This allows the wands to store in attachment 'bucket' and the PN to hang from clips in back. The older and newer white bristle wall brushes are a nice find. The wide floor or rug nozzles were often used on these.

What a great find! And it even has some bags which are pretty rare.

I have only seen one of those machines and I forget which convention I was at.

The newer metal tank CA were awesome machines. The late run of them were plastic and I actually like those better.

To have a hose like that, still in good shape is amazing.

Wow it even has the bags which are hard to locate.

Yes, this is a newer version as there are cord holders, the early ones didn't have that. And there should be two clips in back to hold the power nozzle, with wands inside a storage compartment. The manual should tell you all you need to know.

This model was only out a few weeks when I got to use it. What you may or may not know, my grandpa brought every new model home for me to test before giving the okay for the school to buy it. Wallingford, Connecticut was about an hour's drive to the Electrolux factory in Old Greenwich.

You have a great find, enjoy it.

Electrolux hoses

A closer look at reply 3 pic 1 shows that the matching hose could be original to the CA.Does the PN hose cord match the length? And 2 later hoses(generic?).Does this have small, medium, large hose lengths?Better pictures please(without the Hoover upholstery nozzle).
