Hey Guys:

Dave and I have been discussing the possibility of hosting a Canadian meet next summer. I'm posting this to see if there is any interest in doing this. I can get the use of the hall at the museum here ( www.sukanenmuseum.ca ) at a reasonable cost (split between those attending) so, aside from that, the only other costs would be hotel room and meals.

Tentatively I am thinking Aug 16, 17, 2014 if the hall is available.

What we need to know is if there is any interest in doing this, who would attend and what you would like to do. Between us Dave and I can set up a display of pretty much all the Electrolux's made in Canada.

This is just in the tentative / planning stage and any help would be welcome. Input please?

Doug

Hi Doug.

With the exception of an overnight in Quebec back in 2005, I haven't been to Canada since I was at Niagra Falls with a buddy back in 1984, and incidentally, his name was also Doug.

This sounds like a lot of fun, and it would be great to see some Canadian Electrolux's. Please keep us posted over the next months.

I know, John! I think it's FANTASTIC that all of us Canadian collectors will get to meet face-to-face finally, forge lifelong friendships even greater than thru Vacuumland & Facebook, & share our knowledge & help others out.

As Martha Stewart would say, "It's a good thing".

Hey Rob

Only if we get some response though. Posted on here and on FB in the Candian sites and so far what's here are the only responses. Not much use in doing it if there aren't very many interested in coming.

Yes, very true Doug. I have to wonder if somewhere in Manitoba or Ontario might be better? might get some more members interested?? Due to location & distance being factors....

There is cost factor involved too though Rob. I can get the hall for 2 days (plus several days set up time on either side) for about $30 a person. And that includes full access to the museum for both days too. Possibly even less depending on the attendance. Where as to do it elsewhere means Dave and I cant do the displays.

Good morning, Doug!

What a wonderful idea! I have never been to Moose Jaw - only passed through North Battleford once when I was a teenager on the way from Edmonton to Winnipeg.

Indeed, it would be hard for me to plan this far in advance as my current financial situation is quite challenging. But if this plan comes to fruition, I might be able to find a way to get to the gathering from Montreal!

Hey Doug I think this is a fantastic idea and I would love to attend. I know my last trip up there was great fun and I need another excuse to come down there so yes I would love to do this thanks. Zach
