I love the look and colour of this swivel top. Does anyone actually own one of these? I assume that they were not very popular as they don't seem to be seen very often? Why?

Back then, I thought the only power nozzle machines were sold by Electrolux, Lewyt, and Whirlpool/Kenmore.
Now I've seen pictures of a Premier of that same style, but in an updated color with a different power head altogether on here somewhere.

I think the reason that these power nozzle versions of this GE canister are so rare is because I think they were only made in Canada by Canadian General Electric in Brockville, Ontario. I used to see them in the catalogues from Canadian Tire and from Consumers Distributing...and Steinberg's Miracle Mart.
I don't think it was available south of the border...

I was referring to a later version of power nozzle Swivel-Top from the 1970's. Probably the same one as the Premier version referred to by vacerator. I have never seen the one in today's POD! And I agree...it's really cool looking!

I have seen a black and white ad for this in a catalog at an antique store in St. Louis. I believe the catalog was dated 1962? I would LOVE to have this.
vacerator, don't forget the Compact. They had a power nozzle around 1959ish to very early 60s and in the late 60s Oreck, Filter Queen and Rainbow started dabbling in power nozzles.

I do remember seeing the later GE's with the power nozzle that looked similiar to the FQ power nozzle. I think it was in the Canadian Tire catalogue.

The above catalog might have been Aldens that showed several vacs including the GE.
Why are they rare?Higher price.New and somewhat unknown idea.Even on the much more common Sears & Elux power nozzles were still considered an option.With Elux you could see the need and value with the in home demo.
The later,and still rare,GE/Premier models with the green PN as well as Eureka,Hoover & Filter Queen models were not seen until the 70s.

I saw a house on HG TV in Los Angeles that was all those colors, and cobalt blues, and gold, and yellow. Very Spanish and sunny!
They still exist.

I honestly think I will just start looking for more bits to start that revolution here! Bring on the rust!I had a gorgeous Big room rug, oriental from Macys I drug home in 82? paid 3 year on that guy, hell , opened a charge to get it. Just a few years ago finally was showing mostly backing, vacuumed to death! It was over an old plush rug with waffle pad under, you could sleep on that thing it was so soft and plush. SO MISSED, people mention how pretty and how soft it was.
