U1222 Turbopower Junior - ratings sticker

I am including the ratings sticker photos for electrical details purposes...

U1222 Turbopower Junior - the 2nd version

Soon after introduction of the U1222, the Electricity Board decided that its Hoover exclusive corporate colours would be changed to Carmargue Grey and Charcoal grey, with the following results...

I think the word 'bland' best describes it!

U1222 Turbopower Junior - the 2nd version

ratings sticker, showing this was right from the end of U1222 production in 1989...

U1284 Sprite

a deviation from the standard Turbopower hood style came in the form of the U1284 Sprite, from circa 1989.

Not the prettiest cleaner, in my opinion, quite what the point of it was is lost of me. Was it cheaper than the Turbopower Junior?

With thanks to the photograph owner...

Paul sorry to interupt you again, but are you quite sure the U1222 stopped in 1989, as I am sure other Board exclusive cleaners in this colour did continue into the 1990's.

U1290 - the first photographless model!

This was effectively a model U1220, in Black Tulip Shadow and Grey, sold in a box that also contained a complimentary set of tools.

This version was introduced in 1989 and smacks of being a way of disposing of the older colour scheme model in a simple way whilst being able to charge a non-discounted proce, due to the presence of tools! Might be wrong, but thats my theory, especially when you consider that two other 'new' models were released alongside the U1290, again boxed with complimentary tools and which were a re-model-numbered U2332 and U2336's!

Any official photos of the U1290 gratefully received.

Paul

Hi Benny.
Re U1222 production - its an assumption, based on the fact that the other machines from that series were discontinued at that time. Production of U1222 could have continued, but I havent anything to prove either way.

Paul

Thank you for that. With regards to the model U2190 and respective hardbag cleaners with tools included, do you know if the cleaner was stamped with U2190 or was it just the packaging?

U1294 Turbopower Junior - 3rd Generation

replacing the U1220 was model U1294, in Ramsey Silver & Deep Ramsey Silver (where do they get the names from?).

With thanks to the Roger for the photos...

Hi Benny.

Dont know if it was just the box or the cleaner stamped with U1290, but the next model could give a hint to the answer, for they did the boxed tools thing with their new core junior model!

U1296 Turbopower Junior - with tools

This was essentially a U1294, but with a box of tools enclosed with the cleaner. A very plain box, this cleaner is dated right from the start of 3rd Generation production, but was never advertised in any brochures that I have seen.

This particular cleaner has been powered up less than five times in its life!

Missing from the photo is the baseplate tool thingy-me-jig converter...

U1400 - Turbopower Junior Mystery model!

This is a model for which very little information exists.

All I know is that it was in York Grey and Carmargue Grey - with the latter colour being involved, could this have been an Electricity Board exclusive replacement for the U1222?

Any info gratefully received.
Paul

U1412 Junior

U1412 Junior was the replacement for the U1284 Sprite and took its place at the bottom of the range, underneath the Turbopower Juniors which at 410watts, beat the Sprite and U1412's 400watts.

Colour was Chambertin Blue and Deep Chambertin Blue.

The photos below are of a machine I have bought and which is currently in the safe custody of another collector friend of ours - vacbear58...

U1426 Junior - first version

Chambertin Blue and from circa 1992 - not quite the last Junior Turbopower, but getting there!
