If you ever want to test the difference between brute suction and air-flow try cleaning up Silver Glitter! My Hoover and Dyson have tremendous suction but would not remove the glitter my chairs and carpet. I funny side effect was how pretty the Silver Glittter looked when it was churning in the Rainbow lighted water basin.  It looked like a Christmas tree in the dark with all the sparkle!

really

So your Hoover and Dyson could't pick up silver glitter? What was your technique for picking it up?

Presumably silver glitter is non-wettable. Did any of it make it through the separator to the HEPA filter?

Certainly the Rainbow is festive with the lighted glitter.

Thanks Jeff!

I did go and wash the separator. It stayed in the basin. That is the hardest stuff to get off the carpet.

I was just comparing how many of my machines seem to have a lot stronger suction at the end of the hose but that does not translate to better cleaning on the floor.

I was using it on both thick wall to wall carpets and some thin braided rugs.

It looked so pretty swirling around in the water bath with the lights from the machine!

not silver but......

It was not silver glitter I was trying to suck up but green and red, I started with my DC24, I vacuumed the area rug first then the wood floors, it did an okay job but I was still not satisfied, with the wood floorsso then I took out the DC23 with the flat out tool attached and did it again, still glitter remained. I finally broke out the Shark steam mop and that did the job. I decided to check the filters on the Dysons and they both had glitter on them, I was very surprised by this.

Your Rainbow is certainly a beautiful vacuum cleaner. Would love to have one if it were not so expensive. Speaking of Christmas, it would be really cool to have a string of Christmas lights with mini "Rainbow" canister lights. given that most Rainbow owners truly love their vacuums, it seems like Rainbow inspired Christmas ornaments would be a big hit.

After I picked up the glitter and it sparkled in the water basin I got to thinking how cool it would be to use it when they demo the machine in the home shows. It really shows off the air flow in the basin and how it pulls the incoming dirt into the water.

It might fun to put some colored glitter into the basin and use it on the "low" air cleaning mode during the Christmas Season.

I also checked the power nozzle and it sucked it up and did not leave remaining glitter in the nozzle. It was fun to see those active edge brushs get close to the baseboards and around the chair legs in the dining room and grab the glitter.

Rob, I just love hearing about the Rainbow.  I still say you should be out there selling them.  Thanks for sharing with us.
