Vacuum looks good Alex.
Depending on the age i would still be inclined to get a brush stone and reseat those motor brushes. The Carbon brushes will last much longer in doing so.

unique edge cleaning brushes and suction vents actually wor

I'd say yes. Even without the vent holes, the brush roll seemed to always do well edge to edge.

One aspect I forgot to mention in another old thread is that the guards actually keep the brushes from bending outwards in long term ownership compared to having them open. They weren't just a safety deterrent.

Also Alex, you've more or less got the Miele version there in front of you - the Powerhouse range was only available in the U.S under the Miele badge and came with additional headlight and variable suction control dial. Still retained the brush roll on/off selector.

Personally I think Panasonic did a wrong thing in stopping the brush roll on/off function on their current uprights.

"I have never heard of a brush stone or how you use it. "
Appliance shops may sell you one. You lightly touch the commutator holding the stone as the motor is running. You will see many sparks fly. Wear your safety glasses.

Ya i have an old Panee i reseated the brushes 12 years ago: i have to yet to take that motor out as she runs like a clock.
