Packard Deluxe and Eureka Model K

I recently got a Packard Deluxe model 1941 and a Eureka Model K from a local vac shop. I was told that the Packard was rare? I has a round bag. Kind of looks like a straight suction royal. Like the first ones.Great suction but needs the fron cap. The owner of the Vac Shop said that the Eureka was a 1907? If someone could clarify it that would be nice. They are quite filthy though as they were sitting in there behind the "hose door" for 30+ years. If anyone can give me some information on them it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

As far as I was ever told, by a still living original Packard dealer over on a Packard automobile forum...that the Packard vacuum was developed to be sold by Packard dealers during downtime's in the showroom. I also visited a well known automobile museum in Mishawaka Indiana; the S. Ray Miller Automobile museum, who also has a Packard vacuum like the one you described, and was told a similar story by their director of collections.

However, no one else responded to my question about this on the forum so Unless someone here has another idea...I'm willing to stay with that information supplied. I too have a Packard vacuum, a later model that doesn't have the round top bag, and tis' definitly a straight suction Royal, by P.A. Geier.

Of course there was also the Cadillac vacuum by Clements Manufacturing, and even a Lincoln vacuum by IIRC by the same firm. There isn't any supporting evidence that these machines were sold thru respective auto dealerships, or had anything to do with the cars other than the name sharing.

As to the Eureka Model K, I can safely say that it's definitely NOT a 1907 model for two reasons. A. The Hoover Suction Sweeper was first in 1908 with the model O. And B. Fred Wardell did NOT introduce his version of the upright vacuum until 1909, as his model A cleaner. The Model K IIRC was a revolving brush cleaner from the 1930's sometime.

Sure Roger,

This is what I call the online clearinghouse of all information Packard. It is by far my most favorite site of them all, and pales in comparison to the others.

There are links to the other packard websites there too. But Im sure unless you have a specific model or year that your looking for , youll take a few days to go thru it. Again it's quite impressive!!!

It seems like alot of car companys did that. I have a Ford vacuum and I've also seen a Caddilac vacuum. It seems they were out in the early 50's. I even had a lady tell me that they were given the Ford vacuum as a closer when they bought their car.

Anyone have more information about this?
