That is an AMAZING ad from a graphic arts standpoint. The graphic look of things that have been "torn" out is relatively new and was very popular in the 1980s, now has died out again. That Hoover used this concept back in the 1940s just shows once again what an innovative company they were back in the day.
 
I know exactly what you mean, Charles, having been in Printing all these years. Another thing amazing about it, too, is all the hand work that would have been involved back in those days to produce a piece like that, with both the type of art, and the separation process for 4 color. Not to mention that the type would have been set by hand or Linotype, repro proofs pulled, then inserted with the rest of the artwork before it could go in front of the camera. Printing has sure come a long way over the past 60 years.
Graphics aside, I also have a question about the vacuum itself. Was the 2-tone dome and the model # the only differences between the 27 and the 28, or were there other differences as well?
