Hi All,
As you may have read at some point in a previous Oreck thread from July, we purchased the Oreck Elevate Conquer vacuum. I raved about it then, and here is my opinion now that the machine has been in service for 5 months.
I raved about it then, and I'm still raving now!! The Elevate Conquer has proven itself in our household many times over as a powerful, robust, and convenient cleaner. It cleans carpets far better than any Oreck I've ever seen before; the agitation and grooming is far beyond any Oreck of yesteryear. I did a test by vacuuming a certain high-traffic room only with the Oreck for 3 months, and then I went over the room with my RugMaster VGIII powerhead (which I put a brand new belt on 5 minutes before) attached to my Rainbow SE PE. The RugMaster+Rainbow pulled NO grit or heavy dirt from the carpet at all. There wasn't much dust either, which tells me that the purple Oreck CC+ HEPA+Charcoal bags really do trap dust well.
As for hard floors and small/delicate rugs, the low speed "Hard Floor" mode of the Elevate Conquer is perfect for the job. It picks up any and all dirt and dust with ease and it has never sprayed anything behind it. The only thing it doesn't agree with are bath mats/light carpet runners, but these are things best left to a stick vac/straight suction canister.
As for convenience, it's as simple as "plug it in, turn it on". It's very easy to handle and work with, and the swivel steering is a joy to work with as well. The plenty-long 35 foot cord is the same material as the Oreck cords of yesteryear, but that is pretty much where the similarities end. As for drawbacks, the only I can think of is that the wooden brushroll tends to tangle hair, but that's my only complaint.
So...I give a 10 of 10 to the Elevate Conquer. It's powerful, durable, and easy to use. If anyone on here is looking for a well-made lightweight upright, this machine gets my vote! Oreck has made a believer out of me!
