This vacuum is in the Stephen King movie Firestarter which I believe was 1982.
I have this model and I think mine is 1984. Not sure how long they ran this model

I have an XL-8300 with the original receipt bought in 1988. I think very shortly after Oreck switched to the XL-9300 series and beefed up the motor to 3.2 amps. At around the same time the XL100C became the XL9100C.
