Opinions on the Miele S2111?

Ive used copy bags before but I wouldn't recommend it - even if Qualtex make good copies - the filtration layers aren't as thick and the bags are inclined to clog quickly, thus requiring quicker replacement and thus not cost effective.

Generally I find the GN bags can last up to 2 months to 2.5 months but it depends on what you're picking up. You wanted to go premium, and thus you should stick to premium. Besides you still have that Hoover Jazz cylinder bagless vac so you shouldn't require as many bags for the Miele.

When you put it like that, I guess they do last a long time, so I might aswell buy genuine bags to keep it going. I have found that they weren't as expensive as I first thought too.

I think I might go for the S762 which is £120 on the Miele Website. Despite what you said Sebo_Fan you said it was similar to the S381 which I read from an old thread that you both own. I'm not after anything lightweight or with a big capacity I just want a good-quality vacuum that will be my first by Miele.

Of course it is your choice, HiLo. What I would do is go to Currys and sample the S700 for yourself. They have the cat and dog S700 model but if you can feel the weight of the body/main unit alone, then you can see if its for you.

Currys also sell the FJM bags for the Miele S700 at £9-45 (15p cheaper than the £10 Miele UK charge).

Does it weight about 8kg? That's what I have read in the specifications on Miele.co.uk but it should be the same weight as a Numatic Henry.

Well the design isn't the same, HiLo. Can't compare a round tub with a sledge in any case. At Currys you can sample the bin lid, opening it, the controls quality etc. I'd definitely go and "try before you buy." I'd say it weighs around 8kg and a bit - the boxed weight is 9kg according to Amazon UK.

For the same kind of weight you could buy Miele's special "brilliant light" S5 which has a bigger bag on board and a curvier design.

Sadly I have no Curry's near me, the nearest one is 22 miles away in the opposite direction we normally go. I will try to visit before purchasing though as it does help. Shame Argos don't stock it. Are the specifications correct on Miele.co.uk?

The only thing which is incorrect about the Miele S762 on Miele UK's site is the mention of the Comfort auto cord rewind. This model doesn't have it. You have to keep your foot on the auto cord rewind pedal all the time for the cord to rewind in - only the S6 and S8 models have the new auto cord "Comfort" pedal rewind where one touch of the pedal is all that is required to wind the cable back in.

The S762 does appear to have the longer 1.8 metre hose and 6.5 cord length though.

I think I might get that one then. It seems to pop into my head whenever I hear the word 'Miele' even though the design seems a bit 1990's but it is apparently really well built.

Yes, but you will have to wait to see which one! I might not be able to get one until the end of the Month or next month probably. I do have a good idea though :)
