I may have stupidly wired my Turbopower2 motor up incorrectly, and placed both wires onto the field, rather than 1 on a mounting block it came from...
Oops fried my motor...

It groaned when turned on, didn't spin and I saw a flash of flame through a join in the plastic. Plug was hastily withdrawm from the socket and the machine put outside just incase it was on fire, and because it stank!

Both of those pictures are either side of the motor.
The motor still spins, field looks ok, carbons still look fine. Should I wire it up correctly and fire her up, or chalk this down to experience and admit this is the first time I've ever broken a vac completely?
It did this to the filter which sits inside the casing by the motor

Hi Sam,
If you are confidant enough to wire it up correctly and fire it up, I would recommend doing so outside, and with a socket close by, as you can never be sure.

I took pics of the wiring before removing it, and put the wires to the correct side but not to the right place. Realised that when I looked more closely at the picture
Will test it out on Saturday and see what happens!

I hate the moment just before you turn something on when you don't know what it will do.

Turbo power 1s are my favourite, but if someone offers me a vac for free I'll take it.
This tp2 was only gonna get used for a few weeks and then given to someone who needed an OK machine. At the moment I have no space for tp2s and don't like them enough to 'hoover' up all that I see

Fixed!
Put the wires back in the correct place, put the motor housing back together, put it outside, turned it on then went inside and plugged it in...
And it runs perfectly! Having 240v shoved the wrong way across it hasn't seemed to phase it.
All put together now again, and hopefully for the last time, although can't test it out on the carpet as daughter is asleep, so that's tomorrow's job!
Happy now, and just in time too, will hopefully pick my next project up tomorrow...

Got a BBQ tomorrow, but can't get too drunk as I need to pick up my 875, which is my next project.
Someone just hit buy it now on my Convertible too, so we can go food shopping too! Happy days.

All is not well!
Ruddy thing, it's always the ones you least like that give the trouble, but I've stripped and cleaned everything so feel it owes me to be working right!
The motor slows now after a few minutes of running. Not massivly, but the note changes and it gets slower until I chicken out and turn it off.
Not stripped it down yet, it can sit in the corner thinking about what it's done for a week or so! Any thoughts? I didn't touch the motor, it's a sealed one and I don't know how to get them apart. Hoping it's not sitting right in the casing, or that I've put the wrong belt on (it looked right, no idea what it's from though!)
