Hey guys,I'm dumb and confused:
I've heard that those blue,red & brown eureka ESP self-propelled uprights are RARE.
I own the blue version.
But it seems everyone on this site has a bloody ESP self-propelled!
So the qeustoin is,Is it rare or not?
I get nothing but plastic crap down here,It sucks harder than a 12-Amp Elite.(Retard pun lol).
So if it's not rare,I'm bloody screwed for that all that is left is my Kirby 511 and a 1929 Eureka.But everyone else is swimming in those,You lucky people.

let me tell you.....

sometimes with the obvious exception.....when one says a make or model of vacuum is rare, i tend to think it might be rare in his or her particular area. like for instance take a 714 Convertible. ive heard from 1 or 2 people that that is a very rare Convertible, and a model 66 is much more common. but ive seen alot more 714's than 66's.

and on the direct matter of the Eureka. here in Kansas, i see a lot of the blue and cream colored one. but i don't see VERY many of the rust colored 2 speed, and ive never seen a widetrack self propelled here in KS. people here tend to buy the lower end models of machines like that. i hope this sheds some light....=)

Rare or not...

It's what you make of it. It is also a matter of personal preference. If you like the cleaner, and enjoy using it, it's rarity doesn't matter so much...in my honest opinion, that is. Some of my favorite "daily drivers" are nothing more than mass produced, plastic based Convertibles. If YOU like it, that is all that matters! :)

Hooverboy.....

very good point as well, it is also a dash of preference. but i also gotta say also irony. when you think something is rare, and search all over hell to find it, then its impossible to find. then once you do find it, you keep finding a million duplicates. and you cant help but to wonder where all these were when u wanted just one....lol....been there, done that, have the full shot glass.=)

Good point. I too have the shot glasses, and the T-shirt lol. I searched for YEARS to find a nice Hoover 63, then suddenly I have 3 63's, a 61, 29, and 62. lol I definitely feel the irony as you mentioned. Those are some of my prized cleaners too. It really was like, "where did you all come from after tireless searching?". There are many machines, my daily driver non-descript Hoover convertible being one, that most wouldn't even bother looking twice at. To me, however, I love the thing. I would be lost without it. It's not particularly valuable, or pretty...or in very good shape for that matter. It was the first convertible I repaired myself, so that makes it priceless to me. AND very rare (as I used to destroy more than I was able to fix when I was younger! :-( ) Anyway, I'll stop rambling on. I just think that in the course of our collecting, there are machines that while not special to anyone else, are very special to us...and that's all that matters. It needn't be uber rare, or a super low serial number, or new in box...just one that makes us happy. That being said, I am off to vacuum with my very rare, not so pretty, but dependable Convertible! Happy Vacuuming!
