old compact vacuum hose ends onto new hose

i glued the old compact hose couplings onto the new hose but the coiled vinyl hose won't stay attached. Am I missing any ferrules or clips that make the hose stay on or is the coiled vinyl hose diameter too small? What are the 'triangular hooks' inside the couplings for?

SO is it the handel or the hose coupling at the machine end not staying in ?
Seems to be the same size but not staying in ?
Could you show morep icture of the hsoe and ocupling please ,the hose should twist into the coupling firmly i imagine .

The HANDLE end coupling is the one that keeps falling off more than the MACHINE end coupling

I don't know if I'm missing a plastic ferrule or some kind of clip to hold the hose?

There is a adhesive e6000. You could use a silicone gasket to make a gasket.
